Stacy by Myka jelina

Queen Kat Designs Stamp Co.

It's Saturday again and that means a new creation with a Queen Kat stamp. This week I have used Stacy, a gorgeous image designed by Myka Jelina.

I don't know the brand of the paper I have used (got just a few sheets) but it is gorgeous isn't it. Love those colours.  This paper didn't need a lot of embellies so I kept it quite simple. Just added a few flowers with dewdrops, a doily and a tiny envelop.

Dragon Riders Herald a New Season

It's hard to imagine, what with the 3 foot high snow banks surrounding us in Chicago, but it IS March, and according to the calendar, Spring is just around the corner. March certainly came in like a lion, so it should hopefully go out like a lamb, with warmer weather and a little sunshine.

Meanwhile, other parts of the world are enjoying the timid beginnings of Spring, so I wanted to make a card in celebration, one with lots of color and warmth.

I used a March QKD release from Artist Terrell Dorfeo called Dragon Riders. I must say this little guy is adorable, and he doesn't complain when I color him pink and orange. I used a negative cut of hot pink cardstock to frame my image. I also used a leftover piece of K & Co Border, using the back of it to color the coordinating green for my card.

For some more Springtime inspiration, check out the QKD Shop!

Spring Chick

Here's the cutest Spring Chick!  This stamp comes from Queen Kat, designed by artist Sandra Caldwell.  I colored her up in pink and made her with a daisy hat and matching skirt.  Just too cute!  I love Sandra's stamps.  Be sure and check out all her designs over at the Queen Kat store.

I hope everyone is ready for Easter now that it is so close.  My local church has decided to have a petting zoo.  I am very curious exactly what that is going to entail right here in the city of Austin. I guess we will find out.

Project Materials:  Cardstock (Bazzill, Neenah); Rubber Stamp (Queen Kat); Ink (Memento, Colorbox Chalk); Bling (Recollections, Jesse James); Flowers (Prima);  Die Cuts (Spellbinders Nestabilities); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue All, Glue Dots); Color (Copic Markers);

Mermaid by Molly Harrison

Queen Kat Designs Stamp Co.

Ás you already might know I have a thing for mermaids. I so love to play with mermaid images they really trigger your fantasy, don't you think so too?
This mermaid is designed by Molly Harrison and available in the Queen Kat webshop. Every month I get some stamps the work with (cool isn't it) and this month I received some papers too. Isn't this DP wonderful and doesn't it have such gorgeous colours? Really love it.
The pattern of the DP is quite loud already so it doesn't need a lot of embellishments, I just added some leaves and, another favorite image of mine, seahorses.

have a fabulous weekend

Check Out Those Elephant Bells

Groovy baby, far out, Right on, Let’s book, what a fox, Bummer, Doobie, Funky, Trippin’, take a Chill pill...
The time was the seventies, the scene was where it was at,.  Bad was good, a fox was sexy, and bookin was getting out of there.
Queen Kat Designs released some groovy, funky, far out stamps, one of which blew my mind, it was like, psychedelic.  It's called Patches the Hippie Chick and it was designed by the grooviest of designers, Terrell Dorfeo.
The stamp brought out some very funny but cool memories of my high school years (yes, I am that old, just chill).  There was a head shop, I mean a music store, that sold patches specifically to cover your jeans, didn't matter if there were a rip or hole or tear, you sewed them on to look cool.  There was a song called Patches that came out in 1970 by singer Clarence Carter, and I used to listen to it ALL the time.
So this little cutie and I have a connection, and I thought I would make her a nice card to decorate.  I might just send it to one of my high school friends with whom I am still in touch.  Bet she'd get a kick out of it!!
For those of you who understand what I'm saying, hope you enjoyed the trip down memory lane.  Check out those elephant bells!! LOL
p.s. (Today they're called "flare jeans" and they don't flare out as much as these did).

Laughter is the Best Medicine

Here's a funny image from Queen Kat artist Coriander Shea called Laughter is the Best Medicine.  How cute is that?  I must confess that though the ribbon and the coloring on this card match so very perfectly, I didn't actually plan on that!  I colored the image first and then found this awesome ribbon.  How fun is that...I love it when you find that embellishment that just matches your card's design so well.

Be sure and check out of Coriander Shea (Phantom Rose) designs at the Queen Kat store.  She has some adorable images with this cute character as well as others with beautiful women and fairies.

Project Materials:  Cardstock (Bazzill, Neenah, Hobby Lobby);  Rubber Stamps (Queen Kat;  Saying-Sweet Pea);  Ink (Memento);  Buttons (American Traditional); Ribbon (JoAnn Fabrics); DieCut (Spellbinders Nestabilities); Color (Copic Markers); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue All, Ribbon Glue, Glue Dots);

So Sweet

Good morning, everyone!  It's Beth here with a card using a great new stamp by Kerry Swinamer.  Let's meet Luna!

I colored Ms. Luna using Prismacolor pencils and layered her on a card made up of various yummy pink papers.

I added a little ribbon and a Prima border that was trimmed down to fit the card to give it just a little bit of a soft, fluffy feel.

Thanks for stopping by!  I'll see you next Sunday!

Stacy

Queen Kat Designs Stamp Co.

This is Stacy, a new stamp in the Queen Kat webshoppe and off course designed by Myka Jelina.
Really love this image, and so modern too, a fairy with a laptop, so cool.

I have made the background with panpastels and embossing ink. Used a TCW template and a blending tool to apply the embossing ink. And than add the panpastels with a (clean) applicator. The colours blend so easily and are absolutely wonderful. Panpastels are so easy to work with and the results are great.
For the finishing touch I added some canes (made with a Spellbinder cutting stencil) The flowers, birds and butterflies are all made of wood, coloured and finished off with some glossy accents and pearls.

have a wonderful day

Dragon Riders by Coriander Shea Detwiler

It's time to show off a new card using my stash of papers (self-admitted paper-holic here)!  Today I made a birthday card for my daughter using a QKD stamp from  Coriander Shea Detwiler called Dragon Riders.  My daughter's birthday isn't until the summer, but when she saw this card, she wanted me to save it for her!
The reason it's called Dragon Riders is because of the tiny butterflies sitting atop our little friend.  I think that's a very clever name for this image.  I used a piece of leftover DCWV paper from the Once Upon a Time stack and perched him on top of a bit of ribbon.  Once I added the larger butterflies to the background, I used white gel pen and added a few more circles/bubbles/fireflies to the whole scene.  A few white heart-shaped brads and my card was almost complete.  I just needed a message, and I chose a Tim Holtz Idea-ology charm that reads, "Embrace imperfection".
SO, if you could, would you take a ride on a dragom?  I would, in a heartbeat.  Maybe I should put it on my bucket list.  it's no more fanciful than some of the things I've already listed there! LOL
Go check out all the cool and cute stamps that Coriander Shea has for you to play with at the store.  And let your creativity take flight!!

I added a Colorbok vellum saying that is flocked with velvet "I'm here to be Different"  Just perfect for this cutie.  Be sure and check out all of Sandra Caldwell's images at the Queen Kat store. She's got a bunch of great spring time images and adorable Easter images too.

Fabulous

Good morning, guys!  It's Beth, and I'm back with another card using Terrell Dorfeo's "Foxy Lady the Hippie Girl" stamp.  This time I went a different route with her, and did a "black and white" style card.

I colored the stamp with two pencils - a black and a grey Prismacolor - and put some silver Stickles on her necklace and the star details on her outfit to make it sparkle just a little.

The black and grey papers and silver and pearl embellies keep the whole thing looking a bit like a black and white photograph.  To make it a little disco- ish, I used some ribbon that looks like a disco ball and some rhinestone trim along the bottom of the card.

That's all for me today!  Please come back every day to check out all the great stamps and projects from Queen Kat and the Court!

pATCHES THE hIPPIE gIRL

It's March, and with a new month comes new releases from QKD!  Today I made a card with "Patches the Hippie Girl" by Terrell Dorfeo. Patches looks like she is high on life, and everything is groovy baby!!
I used mixed media to make this card.  I am very much into mixed media right now, and wondered how paint, matte medium and designer napkins would look on a card.  I showed my daughter, who is in her third year of art in high school.  She said she liked it because it was "different".  The texture is very different, and even though the finish is supposed to be matte, it has a bit of a shine to it.  What do you think?
I added a few layers of designer napkin first, tearing the bottom for a rough look.  I colored my image with Copics, then positioned it on the card so I could stamp the sentiment "groovy".  I colored in the letters with black Copic and white acrylic paint.
To frame Patches, I drew a peace sign, then placed "flower power" embellies around her.  I added a VW Beetle button, and finished off my card with some white acrylic painted dots and white inked edges to lighten it up.
I had fun trying this technique on a new venue, and would do it again.  Have you tried mixed media yet?  It is "far out, dude"!!    Meanwhile, check out more of the Queen's new releases at the shoppe!

Hello everyone and Happy March!  here's a brand new stamp that will be introduced very soon! This image is from artist Coriander Shea and is called Laughter is the Best Medicine.  So cute, huh?  I colored up the creatures in purple with matching green.  I used some gorgeous lace from Istanbul, Turkiye.  I used a shade of Bazzill purple paper and some shimmery purple cardstock to go with it.

She has a whole line of stamps, both with cute creatures like this as well as beautiful ladies and fairies.  Be sure and check out all her stamps at the Queen Kat store.

Groovy

Good morning, y'all!  Beth here with a groovy lady to jazz up your Sunday morning.

"Foxy Lady The Hippie Girl" is her name, and she's a new stamp from Terrell Dorfeo.

She was super fun to color, and these bright papers that I got from the Queen herself were perfect for her!  I framed her using a Polaroid picture-style photo frame.

I added some crocheted flowers and flowery ribbon, along with a sentiment made from with a Dymo labeler, to accent Foxy and her sassy pants.

That's all for me this week.  I'll see you next Sunday!
