"Tagged" by Love....

More Valentine's inspiration for you!

I'm not really a romantic person but it is fun to create Valentine's projects!

These could be tags or bookmarks as I kept them fairly flat with not too many embellishments.

My first tag is in red, black & white colour scheme. Patterned digital papers (from Below Blink Etsy Store) were torn and adhered to the card and then I used my sewing machine to sew along the join of each strip.

My second tag has pink, grey & black colour scheme with Digital Patterned Papers from SheryK Designs Etsy Store.

Why not pop over to the QKD Store and get yourself some new images!

Back next week with some more inspiration for you!

Vintage Chic from Beverly Cowan

I am loving the vintage images from Queen Kat Designs this month. This image is digital and called Douglas and Emma, designed by artist Beverly Cowan.
I decided to make a triptych, which is a "set of three." Instead of coloring the images with all colors of Copics, I colored the entire boxed imageof each in one solid color, adding a little more depth to her dress and his suit. For even more highlight, I added diamond Stickles to her dress. I framed them with black card stock.

I used a sheet of American Crafts paper from the Take A Note stack for the background, distressing the edges with ink. After placing my images, I added a string of pearls (from a broken necklace), and a bit of lace for the top. In the bottom corner, I shaded part of a paper doily with coordinating colors and stamped the sentiment using another QKD image from the Birthday collection. I added some contrast to the patterns in the doily with black gel pen.

For a finishing touch, a threw on some sequins for extra sparkle. Do you like to dance?   I LOVE to dance, but I can't do it well, so I am a self-proclaimed "chair dancer," meaning I dance fantastically in my chair, but when I get on the dance floor, well, it's not pretty, let me just say...

Looking for vintage images? The QKD Shop is the place to find them! If you need some inspiration, visit the QKD Facebook page as well. You never know what crazy contests and prizes you'll find there on New Release nights!

Endless Love

Here's a brand new stamp from Queen Kat called Endless Love!  Don't you just love it? I know I did. Can you imagine a young couple, who grows old together and then passes away, to be buried together in each others arms? that is what this image makes me think about here.  I added a great little brad that says Love U.

Be sure and check out all of this month's new releases at the Queen Kat store.

Mr and Mrs.

Wedding season and Valentine's Day are almost upon us!  Aren't these bird images just perfect for the Mr. and Mrs. card?  I absolutely love his striped waistcoat and the flower in her hair along with the long flowing tail or train.  For this card I used:

1.  White card blank
2. Floral patterned paper from Kaiser Kraft
3. Pink floral border from Queen and Company
4. Wooden ampersand
5.  Double Wedding Stamp Queen Kat Designs
6. Colored pencils
7.  Liquid adhesive and dimensional adhesive
8.  Medium corner rounder

I love these images and I think the patterned paper and the wooden ampersand set them off just perfectly.  Next week, I will be back with more of these images.

One Layered "LOVE"....

I always say I struggle with CAS style cards - all that white space really freaks me out but these new images were just asking to be in CAS format!

I used cards that have a linen finish to them - makes them look a bit more textured and a bit "richer" looking than plain white card.

As you can see I have gone with a red, black & white theme for all 3 cards.

It takes a bit of time to set the images out on the cards but I think it's worth the time and effort - I'm really happy with the clean look of them.

Hope you are all having a creative week!

Why Don't ya come up and see me some time Big Boy!!

Happy Wednesday everyone Janie here to showcase another project. This week I am showcasing Audrey by Beverly Cowan. I love this vintage stamp as I saw her it reminded me of Mae West hence the title of this post. I'm not old enough to have seen any of Mae West's work but I remember that quote and I thought it was perfect for Audrey.

With this card I went with an Andy Warhol feel so to speak, same image in different colors I actually like the way it came out.

I really like the way this came out.  I like to thank you for stopping by today and I hope you have a good week

Hugs

Music Blooms in the Soul

Hello, crafters!  Pat here with a beautiful card using a QKD January new release called Florophone.  I found a piece of leftover patterned paper on which I placed my image. I liked the idea of the Florophone surrounded by butterflies, much like flowers growing in a garden.  My background paper is so rich with designs that I kept the embellishments down to a simple line of pearls and a single paper rose.

For more lovely images and loads of inspiration, check out the QKD Shoppe and the QKD Facebook page.

Here's a brand new stamp from Queen Kat artist Beverly Cowan. This stamp is named Mary  I just love this vintage woman. I am also using a brand new sentiment that comes in a new set available at the site called Wedding.  There's five different sentiments in the set, several of which can be used for all around greeting times too!

Hope you love the new Queen Kat images, drop by the store and check them out!

Charlie and Thomas in Pink!

It's almost Valentine's Day and Charlie and Thomas are ready!  Did you know on February 14, 1920 the League of Women Voters was formed?  The background of the card is made from a do it yourself newspaper site.  I simply entered the date and looked up the news!  Very fun!  Charlie and Thomas are new this month to QKD.  I adore this image Charlie and Thomas by Beverly Cowan.  Aren't they magical and chic!  Check out the Queen Kat Design store for fabulous vintage images!  I used a variety of techniques to color the images including gel pens and metallic pencils.  Love these two!

Love Served on a Platter........

Hi Everyone

Today I am sharing 3 little ATC's using new release images from the QKD Store!

It's new release day on the 15th of each month so "Queen Kat" has just posted all the new releases for the month!! Check out our Facebook Page for more details as well!

For my first ATC I used the image to make the background and then printed an extra little "stamp" to add to the platter this cute cherub is serving up LOL! I added a little charm to the bottom corner which says "Made with Love". Collage cherub image is from Gecko Galz.

My next ATC uses another image in a similar way - I used the image to make the background and then the main image has been mounted on black card and I used mounting tape for some dimension plus I added the red flower for some contrast.

I love my next "vintage" style ATC with the little "I Love You" image printed in pale pink to match this elegant woman - collage image from Gecko Galz and background heart paper from SherryK Etsy Store. I always love to create with pink somewhere on my creations!!

I have some CAS style cards to share with you next week using these new images again along with a great "Parisian" style image so stay tuned!

And please head over to the store to grab yourself some Valentine's images so you are prepared for the day!

MEWOW!!!!

Happy Wednesday everyone Janie here to show you a very cute image today. It's called  " You are the cat's pajamas". I did my own little twist on it though since I have kids we watch a lot of cartoons, and one of them is monster's vs. Aliens. Well one of the character's Dr. Cockroach says to the female character " Mewow". So I thought why not incorporate it in the card I thought it was very cute.

I used my copics on this piece as well as my smooch inks. I used Basic Grey and Graphic 45 papers and Bo bunny jewels to make it pop.

He is just so sophisticated with his pipe and monocle very dapper indeed. I hope you enjoyed my piece today and I want to thank you for stopping by. Have a great week.

Hugs

Everything is Copacetic

Everything is copacetic when you're using a fabulous image from Queen Kat Designs.  Here, I made a mixed media wall art that is now hanging up in my craft room.  I colored the QKD digi with Copics.  The image is called Emma and Douglas, designed by the talented Bev Cowan.

I started with an oval piece of wood and Mod Podged some patterned papers onto it.  Next layer included the colored image and sentiment.  I printed it on my computer.  Before I embellished with the flower and pearl flourish, I used Distress inks to age the edges of my scene.

It's a very simple project with a great presentation, and it took me less than half an hour from start to finish!  I have been dabbling in mixed media canvases and wall art for the last several months and really love it.  Have you tried it yet?  It's a lot of fun!!

New Vintage!

Welcome back to the era of our grandma and grandpa! (or maybe for some of you, your great grandparents)  I adore this image Charlie and Thomas by Beverly Cowan.  Aren't they magical and chic!  This month, I will be showing them in a variety of color ways.  Check out the Queen Kat Design store for fabulous vintage images!

This card was really fun to make.  The button with the leaves is a vintage button from my stash, probably not dating back to the Roaring 20s, but close.  The swirl is from Jolee's and the sentiment from Tim Holtz!  I can hardly wait to make this in a Valentine color scheme!

Have a great week!

My pages have been decorated with acrylic paint & some lettering plus some gorgeous glitter for added sparkle! "Sophie" image was printed on tissue paper and adhered to the page with Modge Podge.

I haven't decorated pages in my journals for awhile so I decided to get going on them!

See everyone next week with some more inspiration for using QKD Designs!

Big Clearance Sale at Kat Stamps!

I'm putting the last of my Christmas decorations away and came across this notebook I had made.  I used the QKD stamp called Christmas Elf & Bauble by Joanna Bromley.  You can find it here on clearance through January 31.  Don’t miss this fantastic deal!

I covered a composition book with patterned paper and then stamped the image three times, coloring each with Copics and framing them with red card stock.  I used Basic Grey chipboard alphas for the sentiment.

Each year I'm going to keep Christmas lists, card designs, poetry and other writings that I created and collected.  It's a form of journaling that I will only see once a year, but will hold many precious memories.

Faith Heart by Miss Megs

Welcome to 2014 from all of us at QKD! I love this stamp that I picked up over at Queen Kat Designs store called Faith Digital Heart Stamp by Miss Megs.  I printed this stamp directly on the clock paper from Webster's Pages, which was 6 x 6 inches.  I set the image at 80% of a 4 x 6 inch print.  The image is colored with Sakura gel pens.  It was then simply cut to 4 x 5 1/4 inches, to fit the white card blank (4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches).  I think this makes a fabulous card for the new year.  It also almost makes me want to get a tattoo!

Happy New Year!

Tagged!

Firstly "Happy New Year" to everyone!

Today I am sharing a tag I made using Jaz Higgins "Princess Peppermint" image - available at the QKD Store

I made 2 Xmas cards with this image for our Christmas Day post here at the QKD Blog and I just loved creating with this image so much I decided to use it again!

My tag has been coloured with paint & distress inks and I the image was printed directly onto the tag. I then added some black rub ons along with some sticky mesh, muslin, hessian flowers and butterfly punchies as well as a "tiara" for the princess!. Some fibres and string at the top finished it all off! What a great way to get creating for the new year by getting painty & inky fingers!!

Wishing everyone a very crafty 2014 & I will see you all again next week with another new creation!

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy New Year everyone I hope you have a safe and healthy and prosperous new year.
Today I am going to show you Lorelei in a Martini Glass by Charles Bristow. I truly love this image and I thought she would be fitting to ring in the new year.

I colored her in blue and silver to give her more of a New Year vibe.

I wish you all a great day and here is a little song to usher you into the new year.

Auld Lang Syne
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days o’ lang syne!
Chorus:
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne,
We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne!
We twa hae run about the braes,
And pu’d the gowans fine,
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary foot
Sin’ auld lang syne.
We twa hae paidl’t in the burn
Frae morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
Sin’ auld lang syne.
And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere,
And gie’s a hand o’ thine,
And we’ll tak a right guid willie-waught
For auld lang syne!
And surely ye’ll be your pint’ stoup,
And surely I’ll be mine!
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne!

Have a good day and enjoy

Hugs

Janie
