Joy is a Flower that Blooms when You do...

It must be Thursday again!

Today I just couldn't resist making another "Black & White" themed card with the new "Black Calla" Maigan Lynne image I am working with this month!

Black & White is always so elegant and classy looking! I added some silver sparkle to her eyelids and some little diamantis along with the great sticker banner I have had in my stash for some time.

Remember there are always new images available at the QKD Store so keep checking in & there are always specials too!!!

See you next week with another new creation!

Warming Up to Spring

Today I'm trying to "think Spring."  The birds are slowly making their way back to the area, so I thought this pretty treat holder using Laura Macy's "Love Birds" was a good way to hurry the season along (especially when the treat is a packet of hot chocolate to warm up my insides).

I cut a piece of cardstock 8.5x5.75" and scored and folded at 2-1/2" and 6-1/2".  I popped my colored image onto a piece of patterned paper after punching the corners.  I did a little distressing with my blender tool and some distress ink.  I added lace on the top and bottom and placed it on the center part of my folded cardstock.'Then I adhered the back flaps together and punched a hole at the top through it all.

If you thread a piece of lace from the front to the back, you can then add a treat, like a pack of gum, a candy bar, or a packet of hot cocoa on top of the ribbon inside the card.  Push it down until it meets the bottom edge of the card, then tie it at the top.

When you pull on the bow at the top, the treat comes up out of its card:
So my treat card with the Love Birds stamped image (as well as the hot cocoa) will warm someone special this week as temps are supposed to drop to below zero yet again!!

Shopping Girl

Here's a great new stamp from Queen Kat, she's called Shopping Girl.  She's just too cute.  She's brand new this month and if you like her, there's several other fun girls that just came to the store. I did my card base here in a dark orange and added some pink Bazzill swiss paper to the sides, with white ink on them.  I used a Martha Stewart border punch to do the sides of the stamped image and colored them with a pink ink.

I had to add a fun sentiment to her "Shop like it's your job!"  yep, I am guessing there's more than a few people who might take that job.  I don't really consider myself a shopaholic unless it comes to stamps! Then, yeah, I am!

Hope you love it and will check out all the new goodies over at the Queen Kat store.

Cheers, Holley

Here's a brand new design "Black Calla" - just beautiful and I couldn't resist simply sticking to a black & white theme for my card share today!

I printed the image on white shimmer card and added some very soft tones of colour to the image, some fancy lace design paper for the background. a glitzy buckle and silk ribbon and some diamantis to finish it all off.

Floral Thank You card

Today I made a card using "Florophone," a QKD January new release.  I can't tell you how many times I have printed this up to make cards with.  Here, I colored my image with Copics, framed it with cardstock, and popped it onto some handmade paper I was given by a dear friend, Liz.  Thanks, Liz!
I attached my image onto embossed cardstock and embellished simply with a jeweled flourish that I cut apart for the two corners.  For more inspiration, check out the Queen Kat Designs Facebook page.  If you're interested in this cute image, go to the SHOP.

Super Cute Bridal Shower Tag

Once again, I am preparing for Spring and Summer festivities.  This time with a bridal shower gift tag.  I used one of the four images found on the Double Wedding Stamp set from Queen Kat Designs.  This time the image is colored with Copic Markers and fussy cut.

Here are the tag "ingredients":

1. Large Tag
2.  Double Wedding Stamp Queen Kat Designs
3. Copic Markers in Cotton Candy and Hollyhock
4.  Vintage Lace
5. Love paper clip - Lawn Fawn
6. Flower and Skeleton Leaves - Wild Orchid Crafts
7.  Sentiment - Unknown
8. Patterned Paper Kaiser Kraft

I love these blissful bird images.  Isn't this the perfect tag for a bridal shower.  It went together so quickly.  I adhered the patterned paper to the front of the tag.  Next the lace was adhered using liquid adhesive.  Next the sentiment was layered over the lace and attached with liquid adhesive.  I added the colored bird image with dimensional tape.  Finally I added the skeleton leaves, the flower and the love paper clip.  I positioned the clip slightly behind the skeleton leaves to give the tag a totally airy and romantic feel.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

Today I am sharing a vintage collage style card using one of the great new designs available at the QKD Store!

This "I Love You" image was perfect for my card - it has a bit of a vintage look with the font style of the wording and the smudgy look!

Background "Bingo" Card Collage image is from Gecko Galz and the cute little couple was a freebie image I got a very long time ago from Lisa Vollrath.

Endless Love

Here's a fun stamp from Queen Kat stamps called Endless Love. It just makes me think of a couple who spent their whole lives together and died in each other's arms.  I colored up the roses on this image in yellow and then added some yellow flowers.  I am using background paper from Carta Bella.

I hope you love this stamp, be sure to check out all of the new stamps from Queen Kat this month!  Can't you just imagine this as a Valentine?  Perfect for that sweetheart (who likes skulls like me) plus the one that you will be with forever.

Have a great week and a Very Happy Valentine's!

Double Wedding Stamp

It is hard to be thinking of Spring weddings when the ground hog and the Oregon Zoo's hedgehog both predicted, successfully, more winter!  But I definitely need to hop to since there are several weddings of friends in the future.  This card contains the "sister" images of the Double Wedding Stamp.
Here are the card "ingredients":

1.  White card blank with embossed floral pattern
2.  Double Wedding Stamp Queen Kat Designs
3. Spica pens in lavender and blossom
4.  Purple 1/8 inch satin ribbon Offray
5. Love sentiment - Kaiser Kraft
6. dimensional adhesive

I love these blissful bird images.  They are cute and feminine, but not too much, in case you are a friend of the groom and looking for something that isn't too frilly.

Don't Feel Blue in Paris...

I am loving creating with the new release designs from the Queen Kat Store!

Have you been busy creating for Valentine's Day?

I don't usually create with blue but I really love the soft tones of these patterned digital papers from Gidget Designs Etsy Store - they have a "Parisian" feel to them which is perfect for the image!

I love to make cards with layers - always looks effective. I added some ribbon to this card along with some beaded hat pins that I threw together to add a it of "bling" to this card!

See you all again same time next week!

Sharon

PS. Make sure you check out all the specials at the store and get creating with some of the new designs! And please remember to share your creations at our Facebook Page!

Florophone from Queen Kat Designs

I have an altered art piece to show you today using the QKD digi image "Florophone."   I started with a cardboard container that had held Brie cheese.  After painting it, I used distress inks on a paper doily and added it to the top of my container.
I colored Florophone with Copics, adding a little sparkle with Stickles and Liquid Glass.  I used my circle cutting system from CM to cut out a frame for my image, allowing the flowers and butterfly to "escape" its frame.  Backing it with black cardstock, I attached my image to the container and the fun began.
A spray of mixed flowers adorns my art piece, while a cardstock sentiment finishes off the top.
To finish off the sides, I attached lace and pearls.   I haven't decided what to put into my altered container yet.  The possibilities include a set of altered round coasters, as well as circle-shaped note cards.  Any other ideas?  The container is about four inches wide.
Meanwhile, check out the STORE for more lovely images as well as some awesome inspiration!

Meet Mary

Here's a gorgeous Vintage Lady stamp named  Mary from Queen Kat artist Beverly Cowan.  Queen Kat has just started to show a set of vintage stamps again.  This sentiment is actually among a whole set of sayings that are a digi-set freebie that you can get when you make an order from them, to see it, click here.

I added some embossed embellishment and some fun ribbon from K&Co and used some gorgeous Bazzill Swiss polka dotted paper.  I hope you have been enjoying all the vintage stamps you have been seeing on the blog lately!
