Saturday Stamping
Saturday is a good day for me to take time to try a new technique. Here is another card I made with the July release stamp set Paradise Found. This time after I stamped the palm trees, I heat embossed them using black embossing powder. Then I chalked in a sunset scene. I love the overall effect. The square mat behind my scene is made by cutting a square of aluminum foil, gluing it onto a piece of black paper, and running the whole thing through the Cuttlebug using the Spots and Dots embossing folder. Afterward, I used a cloth to dab onto the foil design a couple of different colors of alcohol ink followed by working in some blending solution. The finished look reminds me of my childhood when, after my dad came home from work, we'd go swimming at Silver Lake, and the late afternoon sun would make the water shimmer. I hope you try using aluminum foil to create some interesting patterns to complement your stamping. And if you need some new stamps to go with your patterns, don't forget the sale going on right here in the QKD store! I'll be back next Saturday to show you what happens when I experiment with water mist bottles.
