August 31 Blog Hop: Anything But a Card

We're stepping out of the box today so be ready for some fun altered action going on with the creations of the Royal Court.

This week's challenge is: anything but a card. Create 2 ATCs or an art journal page.

And here's a road map of the Blog Hop in case you get lost along the way:

Virgo Goes Postal ATC - Virgo Stamp and Going Postal Stamp Set

Kiss the Cook ATC - Satisfaction Dragon Stamp Set and an old QKD "Kiss the Cook" stamp

And since I've dusted off my art journals for 2010, I decided to do a re-listing of my everyday goals for 2010. It's not such a bad idea to reassess those New Year's Resolutions past mid-year. (And yes, sadly, I'm waaaay behind my goals.)

Stamps: chair from stamp set with May/June 2010 Findings Kit, cage from Every Season Stamp Set, strawberry and sentiment from Satisfaction Dragon Stamp Set, Virgo Stamp
And here's a close-up of the wonderful Virgo Stamp and Satisfaction Dragon Stamp Set stamps:

Now off you go to the lovely Shannon's to see what she cooked up today. Enjoy the inspiration! =)

Home, a layout

So yeah, sometimes they do happen. A burst of inspiration or just because your photo refuses to work with a sketch. =p

This is the house I grew up in. My grandfather bought it and my Mom also grew up here with her sisters.

I was working with a sketch with this photo when mid-way, I figured out it wasn't going to work and just went ahead and finished it on my own.

I used my favorite Aged Text Background Stamp and the sentiment below is from the Friends Forever Stamp Set.

So do you have any creative projects lately you'd like to share? We'd love to see!

*hugs*

Thursday Focus

Each Thursday, I am going to focus on a select stamp or stamp set from one of the fabulous lines at QKD. For the first Thursday focus, I thought about which one I wanted to spot light and then thought -- one of my favorites!! Today, I wanted to focus on my favorite background stamp by QKD! Some of you have heard me repeatedly say how much I love this background stamp that I do not even have to tell you which one, but for those who do not know. My favorite background stamp (and one that you definitely need in your stash!) is the Fairy Background Stamp.

This stamp is wonderful because of its versatility. Check out these projects using it.

And don't forget that stamps are currently on sale!!! So, make sure you head to the store today!

Title: it's not magical everyday
Journaling reads: Some days are better than others. There are days when I fight sleep just because it's so hard to get out of bed the next day. And, yup, this usually happens on a Sunday. On days like that, you just have to remember one word: BELIEVE. Believe that it gets better. Believe that if only you start moving again, it DOES get better.
It was one of those days that I needed to cheer myself up and I scrapped some of my feelings down. I chose one of my fave photos I took of a swing merry-go-round. It reminded me that life is full of ups and downs.
Here's a close-up of the lovely Virgo Stamp:

Altered Flashcard

For a quick, creative project (more like catharsis or a creative workout when you feel that the mojo just isn't there) and an easy way to finally dig into that kit that you love but just can't bear to use, here's a quick, fun idea.

I went ahead and grabbed my favorite January/February Alice-themed Findings Kit and got some stuff out to play with.

Materials from the January/February Findings Kit:
a flashcard
2 playing cards
buttons
flowers
chipboard ticket
blue fabric

I threw in a bingo card, a doily, double-sided tape, Versafine ink, some QKD stamps, and my trusty Ranger Glossy Accents and I was ready to go.

Steps:
1. Stamp Virgo Stamp on chipboard ticket.
2. Stamp sentiment from the Alice stamp set from the January/February Findings Kit on both sides of Virgo.
3. Cut out center portion of a bingo card.
4. Cut out a triangular shape from a doily.
5. Get the flowers from the kit and get three of them. Bind them together with blue fabric also from the kit.
6. Position your elements on the flashcard until you're happy with how it looks.
7. Adhere down elements.

And there you have it, a fun little collage you can keep on display to keep you inspired or to give to a friend.

Hope you have a creative day today!

*hugs*

Sadly, we are missing two this month as Kimme's and Erika's DT duties come to a close. We wish the both of them the very best of luck and we just wanted to let them know that once you've been a part of the QKD family, you'll always be family. =)

Without further ado, here is this month's beautiful sketch:

And here's my interpretation:

It's always fun to combine Queen Kat Designs products. Here, not only did I get to work with the lovely brand-new Virgo rubber stamp HERE, but I also cut out the Red Queen from a drawing book page that came with the gorgeous February Alice-themed Findings Kit. The buttons, playing card and lovely ribbon also came from the February Findings Kit.

P.S. Handwrote the Red Queen's message to Virgo, which is, "You owe me an unbirthday gift!" =p

Check out the QKD kits HERE.

Now off you go to the lovely Lara's Blog HERE. See yah next Tuesday!
