May Release from Kathy Cyr

I was playing with some new Tim Holtz supplies I received from crafting friends on my crafting Yahoo group, and thought I could make something that would make a great venue for this QKD image by artist Kathy Cyr.  It's called "New Dress" and is so versatile for all kinds of cards!  As you can see, I used her to make a tag.

I colored her with my trusty Copics, in addition to a set of Black Spectrum Noir markers.  I Stickled her hair to put a little edge on her soft look.

The tag is full of Tim's amazing techniques--distress inks, collage design, embossed base, etc--and was so much fun to play with.  You can go to Pinterest and a lot of other sites to see how he makes all the amazing things he does.

And do you know what's so great about Queen Kat Designs' stamps and digi's?  They are a perfect fit for crafters who love sTom Holtz' style!!  Go check out all the wonderful images at the Shoppe today!

Magic

Good morning!  I have a card to share today that I made with the Indian Princess stamp by Regan Kubecek.

For this card, I used a few sheets of distressed cardstock from the Paper Loft layered with the stamped image, which I colored with Prismacolor pencils.

I embellished the card with word stickers from K & Company and some flowers and trim from Recollections.

Be sure to get on over to the Queen Kat Designs store to pick up this great stamp - and lots of others, too!

I'll see you next Sunday!

star fairy and more

Today I have 2 posts for you and some sad news....
This will be my last post for Queen Kat....too much on my sleeve so to say...busy job, giving workshops drawing assignments....well too much to do and too little time to do it all....
surely will miss you all

but now back to some enjoyable things, 2 creations
This week I was in the mood for green and yellow, no purples or blues or pinks this week, no , just green and yellow....all right all right and a tiny small bit of blue ;-)

Fairy Star Unmounted Rubber Stamp

This is the STAR FAIRY by Miss Megs.
You can find her here in the Queen Kat webshop.

The background is made with fresco paints by Paperartsy and a few different TCW templates. Made a 2nd  tag on a little piece of paper and torn it into 2 pieces. The flower is made with a Crealies cutting stencil. The leaf is prefab and bought in the hobby and craftshop.
I coloured the STARFAIRY with colouring pencils.

**************************************
And now something completely different....
an art journalpage, using the fabulous patchwork spring stampset. This set is really versatile  and you can find it here in the Queen Kat webshop
Patchwork Spring Unmounted Rubber Stamp

The background is made with leftovers of previous art journal pages I made (using sheets)
I always save them for later for a small tag or as in this case to create a patchwork background. Did some faux stitching around the edges. Think that looks cool, don't you think so too?
The images are coloured with colouring pencils.
The quote is handwritten and I found it on the internet.

have a fun weekend

Happy Wednesday everyone.. Janie here today I am going to show you an altered canvas I made. I love how this turned out and i think I may even add more to it. I used Tim Holtz distress inks in various colours. I then took a spray bottle of water and blended the colours together.

So what do you think? I hope you like it.
Have a great week

Safe Haven

Today my heart goes out to the victims of the tornadoes that have brought destruction to the midwest, especially yesterday.  Would that we all be safe from harm "Under Mama's Arms", as this QKD image is called by the very talented Sandra Caldwell.

I made a tag card, distressing the background a tad, popping some lace on the bottom for a roosting spot for that poor tired mama, under whose wings her chicks rest peacefully.  A wired swap of beads decorates the top, while sequins are sprinkled across the front.  A simple Hi! sentiment finishes off my card.

Prayers to all who lost something or someone this weekend, and heartfelt thanks to those heroes who put themselves in harm's way to save their neighbors.

Enjoy the day, crafters!!

Where Is Goldilocks?

Here's a fun stamp from Queen Kat artist Sandra Caldwell called The Three Bears.....I know what I am thinking..."Where's Goldilocks?"  Yep, maybe Sandra Caldwell will create us a stamp of her.  But for now these three bears sure are cute.  I can already see them sitting on their three chairs, eating their three bowls of porridge and laying in their three beds.
Be sure and drop by the Queen Kat store to see Sandra's other fun stamp images.  She's got the cutest teddy bears along with some adorable people images and other delightful animals.  Now Queen Kat is also selling images in digi-format as well.

Project Materials:  Cardstock (Bazzill Swiss, AC, Neenah);  Stamp (Queen Kat); Ink (memento); Ribbon (Prima); Buttons (unknown); Adhesives (pop dots, Glue All, Glue Dots, Ribbon Glue); Color (Copic Markers);

A Birthday Party

Good morning guys! Beth here, with a simple - but still really special - birthday card that features the great "Francis Mary's Birthday" stamp by Kathy Cyr.
To make the floor that these two are sitting on, I cut strips of a wood grain patterned paper and inked all their edges before gluing them down on the wallpaper-y background. It's best to start in the middle and work your way out when doing this so that the little planks are centered across the card.
Since I worked with the digital version of this stamp, I printed it twice in different sizes. The Francis Mary piece is from the larger printing, and wee Cornelius is from the smaller. This, along with some little "shadows" under each of them (using Black Soot Distress Ink), makes them look more like they are sitting on the wooden floor.
The window was made by adding a frame made from brown paper on a blue scrap of paper. To make the curtain, I used a floral paper and my scoring board to make a pleated fabric effect. The wavy edge on the bottom was cut after the paper was folded so that the wavy edge didn't get distorted when the paper was accordion-folded. The valance at the top is a strip of the same floral paper. I put a small piece of foam tape under it, between the curtain bits, to keep it from sagging in.

That's all for me today. Be sure to check out this and all the other new stamps in the Queen Kat Designs store. I'll see you next Sunday with another new card. Have a great week, everyone!

x Beth

It's Saturday again and that means QUEEN KAT'S DAY.
Today I have a creation with the adorable spring birds by Lea Barozzi to share. Click the link to go the shop directly.

Spring Birds Unmounted Rubber Stamp

The background is made with embossing ink, a TCW template and pan pastels.  On the parts were the embossing ink is , the pan pastels will turn out darker. This is a fun way to use your pastels. And I really love the effect. Pan pastels also blend very well, they are smooth and the colours are just fabulous. The image is printed on white cardstock and coloured with colouring pencils. The tiny leafs and flowers are from my stash.

have a fabulous weekend

Let Your Imagination Soar..............

Hey everyone Janie here today to share an interesting image with you by the fabulous Miss Megs... Today I am showing  Octopus Treasure by Miss Megs. When I first say this image I was not sure what I was going to do with it.. But I over came that and created a bookmark. I thought of Treasure island, and 20000 Leagues under the sea when I was looking at this image. I used Bo Bunny's key lime collection on this piece and I think it came out pretty cool.

Take a look and let me know what you think?

I think it's kind of groovy. Thanks for letting me share this piece with you today and I hope you have a great week.

A New Sandra Caldwell Release

Did everyone enjoy the weekend?  I ran away with my mom and my sisters for a girls' overnight away.  We played Yahtzee and watched movies and had a bunch of fun.  We laughed over memories and made new ones.

I made this card for one of my sisters. Each is a godmother to one of my kids, so I always give them cards as well as my own mom.

Queen Kat Designs released a new image from Sandra Caldwell that was perfect for my Mother's Day card.  It's called "Under Mama's Wings".  That is one tired looking mama bird, but she also looks happy to me, happy to be able to hold and protect two healthy young ones.

I too am happy to have two young adults as my children, one married into a family with a daughter of his own, and the other about to embark on the adventure of her life, graduating from high school next month.

You can always find the perfect images and stamps for whatever you're feeling, whatever you want to say to someone.  Check out the Shoppe for the most fun, funky, fantastical, gorgeous images!! You'll love what you see!

Queen Kat Designs Stamp Co.

This week I used this beautiful digi design by miss Megs, STARFAIRY. This image is also available as rubberstamp. You can get both in the Queen Kat webshop.

Fairy Star Unmounted Rubber Stamp

I used a lot of Dylusions Ink and TCW templates on my tag and some modeling paste by Liquitex. After the modeling paste was dry I added some color with a brayer. The flowers used to be white but I gave them some colour using my copics and some alcohol ink blending solution. The leaves are made with a Joy cutting stencil. For the finishing touch I used some pearl stems too.
The image was printed on cardstock and coloured with colouring pencils.

have a fabulous weekend

Koi Fairy

Happy Friday.  Emily here with a new image from Maigan Lynn.  This one is called Koi Fairy and I think she's beautiful.

I used a combination of BIC markers, Chromatix and Copics to color this image.  After all of the image was colored, I used my chalks to make the sky background.  There are so many different ways you could color in this image.  It's full of possibilities.

If you haven't had a chance to check out Maigan's images, please stop by the shop and check them out.  You will be pleasantly surprised at the artwork.

Thanks for stopping in today.  I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

New Dress by Artist Kathy Cyr

I really am trying to push SPRING the last few weeks because in the Chicagoland area, it's just not happening.  Although the weather is finally shifting to a more normal pattern and the temps are s-l-o-w-l-y climbing up, so there is hope for us.

So, today I made a pretty Springtime card in shades of pink.  I used a brand spankin' new May DIGI release (that's right, a DIGI from QKD) called New Dress by Kathy Cyr.

I had a handful of leftover pieces of patterned papers in shades of pink, so I ran with it and ended up with this card.  I love the yellow butterfly playing peekaboo and adding just a pop of color.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Cinco de Mayo, everyone!  I hope you are all having a great weekend, and that all you scrappers enjoyed National Scrapbooking Day yesterday.

Today I have a card to share that features the new "Francis Mary's Birthday" stamp by Kathy Cyr.  Kathy's Francis Mary and Cornelius stamps are among my favorites to work with from the Queen Kat Designs Store.  They're just so cute!

I colored the image with Distress Markers.  I like how they kind of bleed outside the lines just a little, which I think makes them look a bit like old graphic prints where the color prints just a little off from the outlines.

I finished this simple card off with some ribbon and flowers.  You really must go check out the Francis Mary and Cornelius stamps (and all the other great designs) from the QKD Store.  They are super fun to work with.

That's all for me today.  See you next Sunday!

Spring birds

Queen Kat Designs Stamp Co.

These cute and gorgeous birds (SPRING BIRDS) are designed by Lea Barozzi and available in the Queen kat webshop. Don't you just love them too? I think they are very cute.

Spring Birds Unmounted Rubber Stamp

I have been working in my art journal again. The background is made with acrylic paints and TCW templates. For the finishing touch I diluted some blue paint  with water and let it run over the page. This gives a really neat effect I think....allthough I must admit that in my early painting days I wasn't happy when the paint started to run but nowadays I let it run on purpose...how things can change LOL

Have a wonderful day
