Aloha!

Did you see my sneak peek on Facebook?  Well here she is!  It's another interpretation of the Alice in Waterland stamp.  And isn't it time for a vacation with Alice in the tropics?

The Aloha card is the perfect any occasion card.  She is on a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch card blank.  The papers are from Webster's Pages.  I simply inked the edges - with Ocean Blue chalk ink and began layering.  Alice was colored with gel pens to give shine and dimension.  Her skin is colored with a colored pencil, from Crayola (my favorite brand it seems with kids around!).

Check out all of the wonderful stamps at Queen Kat Designs, you will love them!

Love Rules without Rules

Today I made a card for my girlfriend, who will celebrate her wedding anniversary next week.  I love, love, love this QKD image called Steampunk Heart.  I had so much fun coloring and embellishing it!  Here I popped my colored image onto a piece of Tim Holtz Idea-ology patterned paper, tearing the edges.  I added to the effect with some diecut gears.
I adhered it all to background paper that was designed by me using three different acrylic paints and a credit card to scrape it all together into the pattern you see.  Punching holes at the bottom, I tied ribbons using more Tim Holtz (this time in the way of brads).   After adhering the whole thing to some sheet music, I finished off my card by rubbing some metallic acrylic gold paint around the edges.
You can play with this heart as well as other QKD images by checking them out at the Shop.  There are images and stamps for every crafting style!  Whatever you choose to make, have fun crafting!

Alice in Waterland #4

I adore these new images at Queen Kat Designs.  Alice in Waterland is amazing.  These detailed stamps are so much fun to color!

For this card, I made a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch blank in black for the card base.  I added a 5 x 5 piece of paper from the K and Company travel collection.  I colored Alice with gel pens, glitter glue, and colored pencils.  She is mounted on the card with dimensional tape!

You absolutely should check out the Alice in Waterland collection.  These stamps are wonderful!

Heralding Spring with QKD Stamps

At Last! Spring is just around the corner!  I have been waiting all winter for Spring! LOL
And to celebrate a new season I have made a new card today.  I used "Sketched Bunny" again-I love the look of it and it is so easy to color up!
I have been sneaking a little Spring cleaning in before the actual day, so my card showcases some pastel paint chips I've been hoarding all winter.  I cut them and then adhered them at a diagonal, then popped my bunny image on them.
After inking the edges of my card, I added the Spring sentiment (printed on my computer from Word) as well as a line of pearls.  A nice simple card that heralds the new season!
For more Spring-themed images, check out the QKD Shop.

Baby wabbit

Here's an adorable little bunny from Queen Kat, it's designed to be a boy wabbit, but I chose to color this one up as a girl to show you it's diversity. I added a sweet vellum sentiment, "Life in progress" as I see little kids and how very quickly they learn and grow.

Isn't this bunny cute as a girl too?  Drop by the Queen Kat store and check out the other cute bunnies and chicks from this artist Mary Ellen Smith.  Is it time for those Easter theme cards?

Have a great day!

Cheers, Holley

A Day at the Beach......

Another card using Maigan Lynn's new "A Day at the Beach" image available now at the Queen Kat Designs Store!

Today as you can see I had lots of fun colouring the image! Maigan always has so much fabulous detail - makes it a real pleasure and challenge to colour all the little bits and pieces - my Copics certainly got a work out last night!

I printed the image onto some "linen" finish card which gives a bit of a different effect than smooth blending card - you just have to be careful as the ink bleeds a bit.

Background patterned papers are digital papers from Gecko Galz.

I will be back again next week - hope you all have a creative week to come - make sure you visit the store to check out the new designs and current specials!

Birthday Wishes to Some-bunny Special

Well, winter is still sticking around, but Spring is definitely in the air!  That's saying a lot coming from Chicago.  So, to celebrate the near-arrival of Spring , I used a gorgeous new release from QKD called "Sketched Bunny."
I printed my image three times, giving each a hint of Spring color using Copics BG10 & RV11, and Zig Brushables markers English Lavender & Butter.  The sentiment comes from another QKD stamp set called "Birthday Party ." by the fabulous artist Sandra Caldwell.
I embellished simply with a few pearls,a yarn flower and embossed daisies.
I don't have a lot of friends or family with birthdays in the Spring.  Most of them celebrate theirs in the Fall; of course, I was born on Income Tax Day (my nickname was "daddy's little deduction."
Whether you make spring, fall, summer or winter cards, you will love the new releases this month!

Shopping Girl

Here's an adorable little girl, she's off shopping! I did this card with all sorts of greens and added a wood embellishment as the center of the flower with "Life is good" etched inside.  What a sweet stamp.  This image comes from Queen Kat, see her here.

Did you know that you can now buy your stamps at Queen Kat mounted on EZ Mount?  You can get them UM or pay to have them mounted on EZ mount.

Happy Retro Cutie!

I am certainly in a springy mood.  Today in my yard there are daffodils blooming and our flowering plum has some of those wonderful pink flowers opening up.  My inspiration for this card is definitely the spring pallet!  This card goes together very quickly.

You need:
4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch card blank (white)
4 x 5 1/4 inch patterned paper (Webster's Pages)
daisy chain ribbon (Offray)
pink bling
lovely day sentiment (Freckled Fawn)
Stamp Lizzy Love Number 6
Sakura Gel Pens for coloring stamp

I am in love with the Lizzy Love images.  Such cuties, and all available at Queen Kat Designs.
To assemble the card:
1.  Adhere the daisy chain ribbon to the patterned paper with liquid adhesive.
2.  Adhere the patterned paper to the white card blank
3.  Add the colored Lizzy Love with dimensional foam tape over the ribbon
4.  Add the bling in the lower right hand corner, and finally
5.  Add the sentiment in the upper left hand corner.

Hope you enjoy this cute design.  AND I hope spring in popping out in your area!

Getting Steamy with a New Release

Time to show off some of the new releases from Queen Kat Designs!  Today I altered a composition notebook for my daughter.  She fell in love with "Steampunk Heart" and she loves to write, so I covered a composition notebook with some handmade paper and distressed the heck out of it.
I colored my heart image with Copics, adding some shine in parts with Liquid Glass from CTMH.  I had a few gears from Spare Parts by the Paper Studio that I adhered onto the heart.  The rest of my gear embellishments went onto my cover, along with some chain, hearts and a journal sticker.
I have been cleaning out my craft room, trying to get organized, and I rediscovered some grunge board in the shape of latches.  I distressed them with inks, paints and mists, spraying and rubbing and sanding.  I'm quite proud of how they turned out. in person, they look to be made of leather.
One thing I have also discovered.  I don't have a lot of "distressing" supplies.  I'll have to fix that right away! LOL  My daughter saw her new notebook this morning and she loves it.  I might have to make another one, just for me!  For some more inspiration, check out the QKD Facebook page.  And get over to the SHOP if you want to purchase this little beauty of a rubber stamp!!

Journal Page with Ribbon Girl

It's almost time to welcome Spring and Summer!  I love this new stamp called "Ribbon Girl" from Queen Kat Designs.  Today I am showing another way to use this super cute image.  She reminds me of a carefree childhood.  I think, for that reason, she is perfect for using in an art journal.  So, I am taking you inside my art journal to show you how I used this image.

First up close and personal!  I colored her this time with colored pencils in shades of blue, which is my favorite color.  The journal background on this image is completed with acrylic paints which were scrapped on with a credit card.  I also used mists, stencils and rub ons.

Here is the page in its entirety.  I still have space to write inside the heart when the mood strikes and I want to take time to write down a childhood memory.

Thanks for stopping by!  I am off to a very special wedding where I will be using one of the cards I created with the sweet double wedding birds, I featured last month!  Check them out!
