Happy New Year

May the year bring you much happiness. Thank you very much for your support over the past year. We have big things in store for 2009. Check back soon for some fun things. We have a new release party happening January 7th.

Happy New Year

Queen Kat Royal Wednesday

Happy New Years Eve! Any big plans for tonight? Not me going to lay low, cook a nice dinner and pop open some wine.

Welcome to our next edition of Queen Kat Royal Wednesday. You may have seen the craze of shorties lately so I decided to make this week's challenge a "shortie" challenge. You need to make a shortie or a few and add them to your card. What is a shortie you may ask? Well you've heard of inchies, but those darn things are way too small. So shorties are a still small but a little bit bigger. Your shortie should measure 1.5" X 1.75" . My sample is a little sneak peek at what is to come during the January release, it's from the Home set.

Come play along for Royal Wednesday and post your awesome creations in our forum at Paper Craft Planet.

Let's get ready for an awesome 2009 and lots more fun with Royal Kat Wednesday and all the challenges with the Royal court and friends. Invite all your friends to come play.

A great way to collect Queen Kat stamps is to join one of the awesome kit clubs, that way you will get new stamps automatically each month. It's a no brainer go check it out in the store HERE I want to hear about what kit you sign up for!

How many of us have that one friend that we have known for years, rarely see or talk to, but when we do it's like nothing has changed?!?! I met "my person" (a little Grey's for ya hehe) about 9 years ago. At the time, we were very young and lived in different states, but somehow through letters and email we grew closer and closer. I made this card for "my person" to say hi and I'm still thinking about them.

On this card, I used the Friends Forever Stamp Set and a new release set called Home. Look for it at the blog party on January 7th!! I love the color combo of red, black, and white so that was the easy part. I used my Cricut to cut out the jagged black circles, pop dotted the stamp on the white circles, did some layering.... and TA DA!!! What a perfect card to send to an old friend to say "HI"!!

Happy Tuesday!!

aren't you sweet!

Here is another card I designed with the same darling flower stamp set from Queen Kat Design. This set is due for release on Jan 1st, and is toooo sweeet!!! I did use the aren't you sweet sentiment on the outside of this one so everyone could see. This set does include 2 sentiments, and the flower stamp. Also right now the Queen Kat store is having a huge sale, you will have to go and check it out!! Have fun tooo!

On this card I did stamp the flowers in craft black ink and used clear embossing powder, and then heated. I used real red su marker to make polka dots in a few of the flowers. And pretty in pink in the others. I also used certainly celery to go over allt he steams, and leaves. I used my large marvey punch to punch out the flowers, and then just mounted that on black and cut it out. The dp is double sided, and sooo sweet! I then just stamped the sentiment on the bottom, and added my ribbon treatment to the top, with a white heart shaped button!

Thank you for looking, and hope you have a wonderful day!!!

Stamps can be found here on Jan 1st, also you can check out all the sweet sales here too!!

The 7th Royal Day of Christmas...

is here! That's right!! We are already on Day 7. I can't believe how fast time is flying. Today I have 2 cards to share with you. They are little 3" X 3" gift cards. You can use them for little just a note cards, thank you cards, just because cards or gift tags.
To make these.. You will need :
Patterned paper
dye ink
card bases folded to 3"X3" (3" X 6" flat)
Stapler with staples

Basically it's all cutting and measuring to get things to fit. It will depend on the size of the stamps that you are using. I used the stamps from the December Take 3 Kit here at QKD. The stamped pieces of cardstock are also known as "Shorties". It's a new trend that trumps inchies any day! Shorties are 1.75" X 1.5". Just a little bit bigger and oh so fun! The Royal Court was challenged by Nikki to make shorties a few weeks ago. They really had a blast. Come to the gallery and check them out. Shorties can be used on cards, tags, gift cards, scrapbook pages and more! Have you made your shortie today?

How fun would one of these be made with the Princess Carriage and castle? fun!!

On this card, I used the Friends Forever Stamp Set & the Hip Aliens Stamp Set.

Here is the great sketch I used, and hopefully it will inspire you to make something amazing today!

Royal Day 3

Welcome welcome! Today I'm going to share a fun ornament I made this year. These are fun to hang on Christmas trees.. But I also like to add them to gifts. Spice up that birthday or baby shower gift with a cute ornament. They can also be used in cars for mirror decor.
To make this cute simple, double sided ornament you will need:
Nestabilities- Round Scallop
QKD Stamps
Dye Ink Pad
5 different patterned papers
6" of ribbon
Stapler with staples
pop dots
paper piercer
hole punch or crop-a-dile

Step #1: Cut the various circles needed:
2: 4" circles
2: 3.5" circles
2: 2.25" circles

Step #2: Stamp on the 2 top circles. You can use any stamps you want to. But I used the stamp set from the December Royal Kit and Get Inked! Kit at QKD.

Step #3: Adhere the two largest circles together with mono adhesive. take care and don't get it on the scallops or you will gum up your hole puncher. Next, add the ribbon to the ornament. I used two staples in an X pattern to keep it in place.

Step #4: Punch holes in the large and medium scalloped pieces all around the edges in each scallop. And then take your paper piercer and pierce holes in the 2 small circles that you stamped on.

Step #5: Using pop dots layer your circles together and hang your new ornament. :)
I once made these with frogs on them. They were sooooo cute! The sky is the limit on the themes you use these for. Have fun with them they are addictive. Stay tuned for another tag from Nikki tomorrow.

Just Whalin' Around/Negative effect inked+embossed!

Win this card!!! All you need to do is make a card using this Technique that Ive posted below, and post a comment here on Queen Kat Designs blog, and one on my blog. Also leave a link to your card, on either blog. I will then enter all names that have posted and played along into a drawing. And you will also receive 5 stamped images of this darling whale!!! :)

You have until tuesday evening to post your card. Thanks for playing!!

Hi everyone, today I decided to show you this technique. Its Negative effect inked+embossed. I tried to keep my card as simple as possible to show you what the background looks like with this technique. What you will want to do is get a cuddlebug folder, and take your ink pad and rub it across either the bottom or top part of your folder. In this case I did the bottom part. Then lay your paper to be embossed and run it through your machine, just like normal. On this card I did add corner pieces that i cut after i used the corner punch on them. This darling Whale is from Queen Kat Designs, and I stamped her on su dp. She is stamped 2 times, once on the white and then on the pink dp. I also used dazzling diamonds on her waterspout.LOL Not sure what that is called...LOL anyways

What do you think ????????
Hugs, Cheryl

Under The Sea

Over at PCP, there was a little challange to do a tag using QKD Stamps and Timmy techniques. So here is my take. I like to think of it as looking out of a submarine window. Stamps that were used are QKD's Under the Sea Stamp Set.
So how did I make the tag you ask?!?!?First I stamped my fish and bubbles onto the tag and then used distress ink to cover the entire background. Following that, I cut a clear cd into the size I wanted and sanded the surface until I got the "frosted" look that I was going for. After, I used Gesso to paint a strip on the back side of the cd, colored the front of the strip in with a red marker. On the back side of the cd, I stamped the seaweed and embossed it with UTEE, followed by adding color with different shades of green. My last steps were to add glossy accents to the front of the cd on the red strip, punch holes and add "rivets" to the cd, and emboss the top of the tag with black embossing powder.

So, I know you have a Timmy Technique that you are dying to try! So try it out! Oh and one more thing, check out
Queen Kat Designs and also, come join our group over at PCP.

Extra-special Gifts!

Make your gift bags extra special this year with a few added touches. I took an inexpensive kraft gift bag, added some ribbon and patterned paper from my stash, and a tag made with Queen Kat Designs stamps; and plain becomes extra-special!

The fun part of this project was I used my Queen Kat Designs Hinge Stamps to create a snowflake! Just some stamping and embossing and it is done!

The options are endless with this stamp set!

To the beginning of the Queen Kat Designs version of 12 royal days of Christmas. We will take you through Christmas Eve with fun and inspiring projects. Nikki and I have created 12 fun and exciting cards, tags and ornaments for you. Each of these projects can easily be transformed into other occasions, themes and colors. Make sure you print out the info we're about to share with you for your technique/idea folder. :)

So.. with out further adieu... Here's day 1's card for you. It was made by me.. Queen Kat...
For this card you will need:
1 card base (4.25" X 5.5" folded)
3 different patterned papers
1 plain cardstock
2 colors of dye ink pads
ribbon tied into a small knot
Nestabilities- Round Scallop (you can also use nested punches)
Die Cut Machine
pop dots

Step 1: Cut 2 pieces of patterned paper to 5.5" X 2.18" and adhere them to the card base vertically.

Step 2: Cut 3 circles with your nesties or punches. Stamp on the top circle. I used the snowflake stamps from the December kit of the month from QKD.

Step 3: Stamp a sentiment onto plain cardstock and mat with patterned paper.

Step 4: Using pop dots, adhere the circle and rectangle onto the card and add ribbon.

Below is the sketch I used for the idea on this card. Feel free to use the sketch over and over. :)

How easy was that?? I hope you've enjoyed this card. See you tomorrow.

Paper used on this card was Cosmo Cricket: Oh Joy Christmas paper from the QKD December Royal Kit.
