Under the Sea

I know I should probably have made a Halloween creation for todays post - being Halloween and all - but here in Australia we don't really celebrate it & I felt like playing with some embossing powder and sprinkles and this gorgeous image from the store by Nora Blansett - she is just gorgeous!

I used paint and embossing ink which actually spilt all over the page and my journal - what a mess I ended up with!! I added a bit of embossing powder and tried to "clean" it all up and emboss the page! It all ended up a bit wet LOL but I am still happy with the effect!

Hope you all have a great Halloween!

Charles Bristow's Lorelei II Stamp at QKD

Happy Halloween in red, purple, yellow, kraft and black.  Lorelei is the inspiration for this layered tag. She was colored with colored pencils and stickles.  The moon was colored with colored pencils and dimensional texturing added with Rock Candy Stickles.  I love how it turned out looking a bit frosty.
The background paper for this tag had a flocked haunted house, which I was able to use as the background base.  The tag card has six or seven layers to it.  I also used some gold and black velvet dangles on the ribbon to add a little more fun movement!

Happy Saturday!

Back to Nature...

Hello everyone!

Today I am sharing 2 cards made with new images by Maigan Lynn "Lost Love" & "Black Widow" - fantastic images to create with and available at the QKD Store!!!

I wanted to achieve an earthy look so I used my earthy toned Copic Markers to colour the images and layered various digital patterned papers from Gecko Galz in the same colourings to complete my cards.

I distressed all the edges with my distressing tool - love the look of distressed edges! I added some sticky mesh, muslin, bows and other little embellishments along with some Mica flakes to finish off my cards.
I'm really happy with how they have turned out.

See you all again next week & remember to visit the store to get some great images to create with!

Naughty Nurse

Here's a quick and easy card using a great stamp from Queen Kat.  I know I might enjoy dressing up like a naughty nurse for Halloween this year. This fun image is from artist Terrell Dorfeo and is available as a rubber stamp or a digi-stamp.

All I can say now is, are you ready for your shot? then drop your trousers and bend over....(you know who you are!)  This won't hurt a bit....

The Magically Amazing Sandra Caldwell

I don't personally know Sandra Caldwell, one of the fabulous designers at Queen Kat Designs, but I adore her stamps.  They simply exude personality.  This magical stamp was colored completely using Spica pens, the top hat has an amazing golden sheen.

I mounted all of these elements on a white stair step card, cut from white card stock.
The elements are from the Gecko Galz one page Altered Halloween elements.  I hand cut all of them and mounted them on some polka dotted paper that I used to cover the steps.  The wrought iron fence is a Martha Stewart Halloween Punch from several years ago.  Don't you just love the bats???
The sentiment is from Tim Holtz Seasonal words. The edges of the elements and the card were inked with chalk ink in old road from Prima.

Thanks for stopping by!  Leave a note and say hello!

Bewitched!

Today I am sharing a card made using Maigan Lynn's new "Winged Shoes" image - available at the QKD Store.

Last week I used the "cat" from this image and today I have circle cut part of the image and coloured with Copic Markers and mounted on coloured and patterned card. Plus I added a little pink flower and skeleton leaf.

I couldn't resist doing some colouring in "pink" although I know traditionally she should be in some Halloween themed colours seeing as it is October LOL!!!

I'm having a great time creating with Maigan's new designs!

I shall be back next week with some more inspiration!

Sweet!!!!

Happy Wednesday everyone Janie here to show you one of my favorite Halloween images. Today
I am showcasing Vampire Boy by Che Gilson. I have had the opportunity to use this image last year at Halloween. This year I gave him an updated and darker look.

I used Carta Bella's Happy Haunting line to compliment this image and I used a wooden die cut to accent his face. I really like how it came out and I hope you do to.

I love how the moon accentuates the whole piece. Isn't he handsome? I think so. Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a great week and stay safe.

Hugs

Feelin a Little WItchy

...at least in my card making!
Here's another project using the September QKD release from Kathy Cyr called Witchy.

This time I used her on a Halloween card.  I used several layers of leftover patterned papers to create the backdrop for my image.  Coloring her with Copics, I fussy-cut her and placed her in a frame with a few circular stickers and a tree-shaped button.  The tree almost makes her larger-than-life, doesn't it?
Have you started making your Halloween cards yet?  I have a tidy little collection started.  I just can't seem to stop!!  I must be under a spell, a crafting spell!!

Vampiress

Here's an awesome Queen Kat stamp from artist Che Gilson called Vampire Girl.  Isn't she Awesome?  I just love how her brief case is shaped like a casket!  Now that's a Vampire who knows her business.  I am using some fun paper from SEI and Halloween theme die cuts.  She looks ready for action.

Have a Halloween kind of day

The Magic of Sandra Caldwell

Time to take a peek into my art journal.  This page has the works on it!  Everything from acrylics to rub ons and gelato and melted crayons.  I had a super fun time with this page.  I especially love Sandra Caldwell's Magic stamp.  You can check out her digital stamps in the Queen Kat store.  I love all of Sandra's images, whether animal or people.  They all have soulful eyes and many of them are glasses wearers!  I guess I can relate to that!  LOL!  I have the most fun using these stamps in many ways.
This magical stamp was colored with colored pencils and then I added glitter glue to several spots to give some additional sparkle!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the fall magical season!

You Are A Star!

Today I am sharing an ATC I made using a part of one of Maigan Lynn's new designs "Winged Shoes" - as you can see I used just the cat part of the image to make my ATC! You can find this great image at the Queen Kat Store!

One of the great things with digi images is that you can print them out to whatever size you like so you can make certain parts of the image the focus - like I've done with this cat!

Image has been coloured with Copic Markers, background paper is from Gecko Galz, I added some twine, star gems and some scrabble tile words. A perfect ATC for Halloween!

I will be back next week with another new creation!
And make sure you check out the store for all the new releases!

The Witching Tree..............

Ooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh............. ( she says in best ghost voice ever!!)
Happy Wednesday everyone Janie here to share my latest creation with you.

It's the Witching Tree by Kathy Cyr. I just love this image and I think I gave it a spooky quality the way I photographed it and the colors I chose give it that eerie feel.  Definitely gets me in the Halloween mood that's for sure.
I used Carta Bella's Happy Haunting line. I think it compliments the piece very well.

Did I lie? I also must appologize to you all and to my fellow DT members for not being here a lot recently, some of you know and some may not for the past 9 months I have been enrolled in school to become a Personal Support worker, well I just completed the last of my facility placements and now I have my final exam to write and then I will be a certified Personal Support Worker I am so excited about this new chapter in my life and I thank you all for being patient with me while I was completing the course. Thank you so much

Full Moon Tonight

At least it's a full moon on my card.  I used a Queen Kat Designs image from artist Nora Blansett called "Jessamine."  I can picture her walking the hallways and corridors of her lonely castle, waiting for--what?--she doesn't know.  So she walks, waiting for something, that special something, to come to her.

I made a Z-fold card and used some patterned paper from 7 Gypsies "Off the Wall" collection.  After coloring Jessamine with Copics, I die-cut her out along with a frame.  I embellished with a pebble sticker, a cardstock key, a string of pearls and part of a wheel cog or gear.

You can find Jessamine and all the lovely new September releases from Queen Kat Designs at their Shoppe.  And for more inspiration this month, check out the QKD Facebook page!!

Meet Me in the Pumpkin Patch

Here's a gorgeous witch from Queen Kat artist Kathy Cyr. It's Frances Mary and Cornelius hanging out in the pumpkin patch. I added some gorgeous die cut vines and some fun pumpkin brads to decorate this card.  I think it would be fun for Halloween or even a witchy thanksgiving.

Be sure and drop by the Queen Kat store as the new stamps for the month have been added. There's some great holiday images that are in now.

Cheers all!

Sweet Witching with Kathy Cyr

This cute little witch sits upon the moon with her adorable kitty.  How perfect to wish someone a happy Halloween.  She is a gentle and good witch (I think).  I love her shoes.  Dash on over to the Queen Kat Designs store to find so many fabulous Halloween images from the sweet to the not so sweet!

Also, October 15, 2013 is the reveal for new stamps.  Check out the Queen Kat Facebook page for all the details.  Reveal night is always a fun time with Vikki!

The ribbon is from doodle bug designs, the skeleton leaf was purchased through wild orchid crafts in the United Kingdom, Trick or Treat is from the Tim Holtz seasonal sentiments book and the skull and cross bones is from 7 Gypsies.  The flower was made for me by a on-line friend and is just perfect for this card.

Make a Wish & Keep Hoping...

Sharon here today sharing my mini journal pages using "cropped" faces from two of Maigan Lynn's new images available at the QKD Store!!

I had some gorgeous pastel shimmery paints which I used my finger to apply over the pages in strips. I mounted the Copic coloured images on some gorgeous Japanese paper - love the fibres and gorgeous colourings of this paper! I added the little pastel coloured letters to add some wording to finish my pages off.

The above image is "Winged Shoes" and the image below is "Black Widow".
Sometimes it just fits to use a part of the image!

See you all again next week for some more inspiration with Maigan's designs!

Why not visit the store and pick up some great new release images to create with!!

Argh, Matey!

Avast, ye crafters!  I have a treasure to share with ye!  My card features a September new release. This cute little guy is called Pirate by the lovely Sarah Waterfield.  I colored him with Copics and fussy-cut him out.
Using leftover patterned papers, I set a scene for him to walk into.  The doorway is made with part of an acrylic stamped and glittered frame.

It's getting close to Halloween time.  Have you ever dressed up as a pirate?  What's your favorite Halloween costume?  I still love to dress up, if only just to make my grandkids laugh!  I also love to make cards and treat holders for them, using QKD images.  There are plenty to choose from in the Shoppe-go check them out!
