Elf Portrait Card

Howdy all!  I am back with a new release from Trish Shufelt, called Elf Portrait, over at Queen Kat Designs.  I wasn't quite sure what do with this image as it's the first elf I have ever done.  So, as I sat at my desk and pondered my choices, I decided on glitter.  Yep, that's right.  Glitter Pens by Sakura.  Christmas is all sparkles and shine, right?  So what better way to showcase this little elf.  I am not sure how well you can see the details in the elf's face, but his expression is one of definite mischief.  So, here's my first Christmas in July project.  Enjoy!  Thanks for stopping by and please leave some feedback.  I love to read them and see what you think.  Have a great day!

Stamp: Elf Portrait, QKD; sentiment: my stash
DP: my stash
CS: Stampin' Up Very Vanilla; Stampin' Up Whisper White
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black; Sakura Glitter Pens in Red, Green and Yellow

Gift Bag and Tag

Good morning, Steph here with a gift bag and tag using Maryanne English's "I Will Defend" stamp.

With so many upcoming events, it's always nice to have a gift bag on hand.  This gift bag could easily be used to hold a birthday gift, or perhaps send your camper away with some sweet goodies over the summer.

A close up of the stamped image which was colored with Copic Markers.  I cut her out and mounted her on a circle which I used as the tag.  It's large enough to write a note on the reverse side.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Cardstock: Bazzill
Pattern paper: MyMinds Eye

Queen Kat on Tuesday, Cheeky

Hi stamping friends.  I published this to both blogs yesterday and they have completely disappeared.  What is up with that?  Strange to say the least.

Queen Kat has wonderful image is by Chrystina Myers and can be purchased at :

For some unknown reason blogger is not allowing me to put hyperlinks into the text box. So for now this will have to do.

There are many exciting things to be found with Queen Kat.  Not to mention if I get at least five comments on this post I'll put the names in a hat and some one will receive this card.  I'll follow up with that next Tuesday.
  Stamp Happy be a blessing.

Fairy Wishes

I think my favorite fantasy creature must be fairies, because I so love to color them and use them on cards and projects.  Take this stamped image, a QKD new release from artist Victoria Griffin, called "Astra".
I made another card after coloring her with my trusty Copics.  There are lots of swirls on the patterned paper on my card base, as well as my diecut frame.  A diecut border woven with ribbon and a handmade brown paper flower finish off my card.
So, if you were to meet up with this fairy, and she were in the mood to grant you a fairy wish, what would it be?  My wish would be an endless supply of paper: cardstock, patterned, lacy, embossed, 12x12, 8.5x11, textured, any and all, please and thank you, Astra!!

Howdy folks!  Emily here and  I have another card with the beautiful Hope stamp by Renee LaVoie.  I have really enjoyed Renee's stamp.  My 8 year old has even enjoyed this mermaid stamp too.  I stamped the image for Kierstynne and she colored it in and made a card for her grandma in Virginia.    So Hope is getting alot of use around here.

For this card, I stamped Hope in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored her with colored pencils and odorless mineral spirits.  I wanted to do something different with this one, so I used Glossy Accents on her bra and tail.  I don't know if you can see it in the picture, but it's shiny like fish scales.  I used Spellbinders to cut her out.  I left the die on the image and used Broken China Distress Ink and inked around the edges.  The DP is from my stash and the cardbase is Crumb Cake by Stampin' Up.  I added some rhinestones, cause you just gotta have bling.

All in all, I think she turned out pretty cool.  Stay tuned for stamped images for the July Release over at Queen Kat's

Happy Birthday

Good morning, Steph here.  I'm using Victoria Griffin's Forest Moon Fairy Stamp .  I love how versatile this stamp is.

Stamping this image, I colored her with light shades of Copic Markers.  I wanted her to be "compatable" with the background paper

After coloring her, I decided to cut her out and mount her with foam adhesives on an oval background.  This provided some nice dimenstion to my card as well as some distance from the pattern paper.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Pattern paper: Prima
Stamp: Kat Stamps
Ink: Memento
Markers: Copic Markers

Dream...Create

If you look deeply into the eyes of my image, a Queen Kat Designs June release by artist Micah Carmicheal called Elemental, you will discover that she really isn't seeing you.  She is seeing something only her eyes can see, soon to be put down on paper with ink and chalks and water and paint, and God and she only know what else.  She is in the depths of inspiration, just about to embark on a path of adventure, creativity and self-discovery.

That is why I used these specific word rub-ons on this card, because I can empathize with her and her eyes looking out but seeing inward, ready to bare her soul for others to see.

I used up some scraps of patterned papers to create a geometric flower-shaped frame for my Copic-colored image, with very little embellishment.  Hope you like!!  And if you do, go on over to the QKD Shoppe for more of Micah's images, as well as others with which to play and color.

Mud Pies #2

Howdy!  Today, I have another cute card using the Carla Morrow stamp, Mud Pies. (HERE)   She is just so dang cute I can't get enough of her.  I changed her up a bit this time though.  Instead of making a baby card, I used her to make a birthday card.   I stamped my little cutie with Memento Tuxedo  Black ink and colored her in using Spectrum Noir pens.  I tried to highlight the fairy this time, but I am not sure how she is going to come out in the picture.  I then fussy cut her out and used pop dots to lift her off the card front.  The greetings are a couple of stamps I had in my collection and thought the cutie pie stamp went rather nicely with Mud Pie.   The greetings are stamped on GP White cardstock.  The cardstock panels are from my scrapstash and are olive and turquoise.  The strip of patterned paper at the bottom is from K&CO and I used my Fiskar's Scallopped Border punch on it.  I think it turned out just a Sweet as Pie...lol.

space cadet!!

I am a complete and total spaz.  I have been running around with like a chicken with its head cut off.  I have actually personally watched what happens when a cruel man (My father) hung a chicken upside down on the clothes line for an hour or so, to only cut it down and cut it's head off with a sharp pocket knife. Gross I assure you.  Could never eat the Fried Chicken for a long time after that.

Our family joyfully celebrates the union of Mike and Julie who where wed on Saturday.  Between showers, pre-wedding and post-wedding things,  it has been super busy.

So please forgive me for a re-peate picture.  But on that note, it is just one more reason I love Queen Kat and the stamps, people and designers.  There is something for everyone!

Stamp happy be a blessing!

Tropical Heat Wave

Here's a card  using Queen Kat Design's "Elemental" by artist Micah Carmichael.  The image spoke to me of tropical nights, the scent of coconut and jasmine, the sound of palm leaves wafting in the balmy breeze.
I used a piece of glitter patterned paper from the DCWV "Citrus" collection.  The hot orange, yellow and red colors created my palette for coloring my image and for my embellishments.
I love how this image is of the woman's face, but includes the background of swirls as well. I finished off my card with some coordinating ribbon, a couple of flowers and the sentiment "believe", because I want to believe that someday I'll go back to visit Hawaii, a land of tropical daydreams.
You can find Micah's "Elemental" and other gorgeous stamps at the QKD Shoppe.  Don't forget to visit the QKD Facebook page for inspiration, tutorials and upcoming contests!
And as always, keep crafting!

Hope Mermaid

Hello my crafty friends.  Today I have another card to show you.  This stamp is from Renee LaVoie and it is called Hope.  You can find this beautiful mermaid and all of Renee's other beautiful stamps at http://katstamps.com/home.htm.   I stamped Hope with Memento's Tuxedo Black.  I then used my Spectrum Noir pens to color her in.  I used a Sakura pen to add some sparkle to some of her scales and her armband.  What mermaid isn't complete without some bling right, so I gave her a belly button rhinestone.  The background is chalked to resemble the water that she lives in.  The beautiful DP is from Queen Vikki, as is the ribbon.  This is a portrait card that opens from the bottom.  I think she turned out rather nice.  Thanks for looking and hop on over to Queek Kat Designs and take a look at all the wonderful stamps she has for sale.  You won't be disappointed!

ROYAL BIRTHDAY WISHES

All hail the Queen!!  That's Vikki, the Queen of Queen Kat Designs!  Today is her birthday and I made this card just for her.  I used a QKD stamped image called "Bunny Girl" by artist Jaz Higgins.
I colored her with Copics, then used my Creative Memories Circle cutting system to frame her.  A leftover lacy circle diecut is her "shadow".
I found the most wonderful distressed patterned paper at HobbyLobby, and got one of each color.  I placed a strip of coordinating paper in back of my image, then added a strip of webbing.
I finished off the card with a set of charms that gives Her Highness the wish for sweet dreams on her birthday.
Enjoy your day, my queen!!
Crafters, in celebration of Her Highness' birthday, QKD is offering 32% off all rubber stamps.  That includes this one, the other new releases, even clearance stamps!!  Hurry on over to the QKD Shoppe for your "sale of the century"!!  But before you leave, do you want to leave some royal birthday wishes for the Queen??

Hello Card

Good morning, Steph  here with my first post as a Queen Kat Design Team member and I'm excited to show you this card I created with Forest Moon Fairy by Victoria Griffin.

I used Copic Markers to color in the image, using mostly 00s and 000s as I wanted a very etheral look to my design.   Once colored, I lightly added some C1 around the entire image to add a little depth.

The image was die cut with Spellbinders Grand dies.  As her flowing dress would have been cut off during the die cutting process, I cut around the dress and placed it outside the cutting area so the dress would remain intact.

Supplies:

Stamps: Kat Stamps
Cardstock: Bazzill
Pattern paper: Recollections
Ink: Memento
Markers: Copic Markers
Dies: Spellbinders

Teal Newcomb -- crested dragon

Queen Kat's designer Teal Newcomb strikes a total home run with this crested dragon image.  I colored it with my copic markers and embellished it with a wiggle eye.  The papers where a gift from Queen Kat, Vicki. SO very pretty.

With summer upon us, I wanted to stick with light teals, pinks and greens to accentuate this beautiful stamp.  I used a sentiment from my personal collection to finish off the card.  It is embellished with ribbon and tag gifted to me from Vicki.

Please visit the store for more great stamps, ideas and great values!

Stamp Happy, be a blessing!

Astra by Victoria Griffin

Happy June, crafters!  Queen Kat Designs has added to her royal court, and I want to welcome our new Royal Stamping Maids.  Please visit the QKD Blog to see all their lovely work throughout the month, as we introduce the new June stamp releases.
The new releases are amazing and I know you're going to love seeing them all come to life over the coming month.  The image showcased here is called Astra by the very talented Victoria Griffin.  Her image is actually framed and complete, but for my tent card I needed to fussy cut the fairy, flowers and dragonfly and place them on the front of my card.
I used an art gallery postcard for my background.  It's called "The Garden of Giverny" by impressionist painter Claude Monet.  The tent card is a very easy card to make, and stands open with a window in which to peek.  You can find a tutorial HERE.
Want even more inspiration? Queen Kat Designs introduces you to the new Castle Playground, featuring such fabulous artists as Sandra Caldwell, Che Gilson, Melia Newman, Jaz Higgins, Charles Bristow and Coriander Shea Detwiler.  The Castle Playground has its own Royal Designers who will strive to inspire you with the absolutely gorgeous images from these artists.  Please visit and Follow the blog so you don't miss anything!!
And don't forget to visit the QKD Facebook page for tutorials, news, artist interviews and inspiration!

Mud Pies

Howdy there crafty friends.  I am so excited to bring you my project for a new stamp that is being released over at http://katstamps.com/home.htm .  The stamp is from Carla Morrow and it is the cutest little baby girl dragon.  I had such fun working with her.  So, without further ado, here she is...Little Mud Pies.

So, to make this card, I cut a piece of 12x12 pink cardstock from Colorbok down to 4 1/4" x 11" then scored at 5 1/2".  This card will open vertically.  I cut a piece of striped patterned paper from HOTP to 4" x 5 1/2" and adhered it to the front of the card base.  I then stamped Mud Pies  on Whisper White cardstock from Stampin' Up.  I colored her in with Spectrum Noir alcohol ink pens from http://www.paperwishes.com/ .  I then mounted her on a piece of green cardstock from Colorbok.  Before I mounted that on pink cardstock, I wrapped some pink and green embroidery floss and tied a bow.  I then put that on a piece of pink cardstock and used foam tape to adhere it to the card.  The sentiment, "Mommy's Little Mess Maker", was printed out from my computer using French Script font set at 16.  I mounted that on the same pink and green cardstock and adhered it with foam tape.  I added pearls to finish off the card.  I think this would make a cute new baby card.    Thanks for looking at my card and I hope you will continue to check back throughout the month for more exciting projects from the Queen Kat Designs design team.
