Royal Kat Tuesday: Release Week #2

Hello and welcome to another Royal Kat Tuesday! We're all set to show off some of the most fabulous new stamp releases for April. Are you all set? And go.

This week's challenge is a sketch:

And here's my take:

I had fun with Queen Kat Designs' Hello Owl Stamp Set plus Eiffel Tower Stamp plus Going Postal Stamp Set. Plus lots of spray inks.

I've been meaning to scrap all our visa/passport application photos and didn't have any inspiration until I saw this fab sketch. Sometimes it really is easier to scrap when you have something like a sketch or some other inspiration challenge to start with.

Our hop order for today will be:

QKD blog
Shannon's blog
Alex's blog
Whimsical Ink Sorority
Meredith's blog
Anita's blog
Bronwyn's Blog

Now off you go to Shannon's Blog to see her fabulous creation. Till next time!

Royal Kat Tuesday: Release Week #1

Hello, blog readers! This is Nina taking over the weekly posts for Royal Kat Tuesdays.

Sadly, Stephanie's term has ended and we will definitely miss her! Hey, Stephanie! We hope that we'll still hear from you so we can continue to be inspired by your beautiful work!

This week's Royal Kat Tuesday challenge is a sketch:

And here's my take on it:

This is my son, Matt, and he's such a camera buff and loves to take pictures. This was a recent photo he took while I was taking a break from taking shots of my layouts.

I used an April 2010 release stamp set called "Hello Owl". Watch out for it in the QKD Store!

Since we are on a blog hop, kindly check out the list below to be on your way:

It's All About SUZE!

First off.. Happy Easter to you all! I hope your day is wonderful and filled with family and or friends.

This month I am proud and over excited to present Suze Weinberg as our guest designer!! That's right, this month we are Schmoozing with Suze! I have met Suze many times over the years and the latest was at CHA... It was a total honor and pleasure to sit and just watch her use her melting pot with beeswax! This woman is fantastic.
Just in CASE you don't know who Suze is, here's a bit about her...

Internationally known rubber stamper Suze Weinberg has been designing and creating with rubber stamps for over 18 years and while it all began as a hobby, Suze has spent the last several years developing products for the rubber stamp industry, writing books, producing videos, appearing on HGTV's Carol Duvall show and traveling the world over teaching techniques.

Suze is well known for her editorial contributions to The Rubber Stamper magazine and her "Schmooze With Suze" column ran for 5 years. She now contributes ideas to many of the stamping publications.

During her career she conceptualized and developed the ideas for Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel, (a staple in most basic stamping kits) , as well as Wonder Tape, The Melting Pot, BeaDazzles, Mold 'n Pour molding putty and dozens more products.

Wanna meet Suze?? Click here to see where she's going to be next.. It's hard to keep up with such a busy bee.

Come by and check out her blog. It's a combination of her life, travels, family and crafts. You will never be bored while with Suze!

Suze is working with Queen Kat Designs stamps and her melting pot! I can't wait to show you some fun projects this month from Suze! So join me each Sunday in April for some Schmooze with Suze.

Come back here tomorrow for the first previews of the April stamp release!!

Tuesday blogging

It's another Tuesday blog day here at the Castle and we have some fun projects to show you today.

Today's challenge was to create anything as long as we used an "older" Kat Stamp. Well, that's definitely easy to do with so many amazing stamps to choose from. I love the Child's Play stamp set and I wanted to create something different with them, so I created this notebook. It was a Christmas leftover, so I covered the front and back with cardstock, stamped my images several times on cardstock, then arranged them on the front cover. Hope you like it!!

Now on to today's hop. Here's the full blog list for today. Now head on over to Shannon's blog and see her wonderful creation.

Royal Banner Monday

Banners seem to be all the rage these days in stamping and scrapbooking. You can even buy banner shapes to assemble yourself. This week, the DT decided to try making some.

You may remember this one that I made back in October....images are from the Monster Mash bundle. They were all colored in with copics.

Here's how it was done:

1- Start with a banner shape. The one I used was a premade chipboard set, but it's easy enough to cut your own.
2- Prepare your background. I used some Glimmer Mist for this project, but I have seen banners decorated with layers of patterned paper.

3- I used my Nestabilities to cut 2 scalloped circle shapes- a larger one from cardstock and a smaller one from patterned paper.
4- Stamp your image, color, cut out, and use pop dots to adhere to project.
5- Add a sentiment if desired.
6- Thread ribbon through holes and hang up.

Really, a quick, easy project. It would be fun to make them for every holiday.

Now let's see what everyone else did- hop on over to Dark Ink Sorority to get started!

Royal Inspiration Monday

Welcome to QKD's Royal Monday blog hop! This week, we had an inspiration piece to work from. I wasn't sure why they picked this until I saw the Alice in Wonderland stamps. I quickly realized that this crazy color and pattern combination was perfect for the stamps!

And here's my take on it.

I used the Mad Hatter stamp from Wonderland Friends. I used the colors as inspiration, and I mixed 2 different patterns for that "mad" look. I added two different patterns of black and white ribbon. I finished it off with some sparkly brads.

Thanks for stopping by! Now hop on over to Dark Ink Society to see Meredith's creation!

Week 3 With Sally Lynn

Greetings! It's week 3 with our awesome guest designer Sally Lynn MacDonald. Have you seen the last 2 weeks of her work? It's fantastic! Check this card out...Isn't it fun? I'd love to join their party anytime. Here's a bit from Sally Lynn about this fun card...

"I know many of my dear friends feel like a birthday is like an uninvited guest on their calendar. So that is what inspired me to invite these lovelies onto an 'unbirthday' card. It seems like the Queen is showing off her invitation and decreeing birthday wishes while the Mad Hatter is just enjoying the refreshments... so sit back and enjoy your birthday. It's unavoidable! LOL!"

Have a great week! Come back here tomorrow to take our blog hop.

Card Contest Voting...

The voting has begun for the March card contest at QKD!! Come over to the new QKD contest blog and cast your vote. The theme was purple this month!!

Week 2: Sally Lynn MacDonald

It's week #2 of our guest feature on Sally Lynn MacDonald. I'm so excited to share this card with you today! She used the new Mad Fancy Mermaid for her creation. I love her coloring and all of the details that she added to the card. Sally Lynn is a wonderful artist. Check it out...
Here's a bit that Sally Lynn wrote about this card:
"I was so inspired by the details in her mermaid tail and outfit so I set about to create a background worthy of this fancy girl. Beautiful die-cut lace paper, flocked black paper and a die-cut border create the fancy setting. But unlike last week's post - this girl isn't about lace and pearls. So I used black crystal swirls to dress her up and some mini playing cards to give her a hand."

Thank you so much for sharing this with us, Sally Lynn. I can't wait to see what you make for next week.

Join us for a huge 40% off sale at the castle!! It's happening now. And a new stamp release is happening this Wednesday as well!

Welcoming Sally Lynn MacDonald...

This month, we are featuring the very talented Sally Lynn MacDonald here on the Queen Kat Designs blog. We are so excited to have her with us this month. Each Sunday we will share a creation of hers right here on the blog! Today I'm sharing with you a little bit about our Guest Royal Court member and the first project of the month.

Her personal design challenge is to take products or techniques that would have her students saying "Huh?" and bring them to "Aha!".

She has been a professional instructor in the paper arts industry for several years, specializing in ink techniques and surfaces. She is a Certification Trainer for Copic Marker / Imagination International as well as being a certified and/or endorsed instructor for Prima, Ranger and Tattered Angels. She travels extensively, teaching workshops at conventions and stores throughout the United States and Eastern Canada.
"I enjoyed giving her a proper, ladylike setting - with her hands tucked behind her back and looking at the rabbit as if waiting for tea to be served. Certainly no idea of mad hatters or what's to come! So I set a place with lace and pearls and a dainty rose."
