Sundays are for Stampin' - October 11th

Hello there, stampers! Welcome to another happy edition of Sundays are for Stampin'! I have been so sick today...aches, slight fever, stuffed up, drainage. What fun, eh? =)

Today I have a fairly simple yet elegant project to share with you. I grabbed some of my SEI Poppy Pearl paper and used two stamps from the QKD Friendship Tree set.

Where you see contrast in the stamped ink is where a different part of the pearl paper is either pearlized more or less - it is such a cool effect IRL!

Hopefully in the photo above you can see what I'm referring to as the pearlized aspects of the paper. If you're in the market for some elegant paper to pair with black, look no further than the SEI Poppy line. More importantly, if you're looking for an image/quote set that can go from elegant to playful in under 30 seconds, then you should absolutely consider the Friendship Tree set!

Sunday Sneak :o)

Stampin Saturday - Take 2

Oh my!!! cool and dreary Saturday here, soccer was canceled this morning (hallelujah!) but we are off to a outdoor wedding in about thirty minutes, but I did want to pimp a bit before I went ---

Stampin' Saturday

Happy Holiday Weekend to everyone in the USA! I tried my hand at another acrylic card. I used two sided paper--solid green on one side, graph on the other. This card showcases the October QKD release: Moving Game stamp set. I stamped the background word stamp onto the solid green and placed it inside the card (when you turn the card over, the graph paper is on the back side). I stamped four of the stamps from the same set onto the graph paper and punched them with a 1-1/4" square stamp. I thought about matting them with black paper but decided, instead, to take the broad side of a black calligraphy pen and run it around the edges of the squares. Then I stamped the car onto solid green and cut it out. The 4 squares and car are glued on top of the acrylic card. I used a ribbon punch on the acrylic card cover and threaded through the matching ribbon. There are so many possibilites for this new stamp set. I hope you have time to scrap a lot today! Helene

Shimmery Treat

Happy Friday everyone. I hope you all really enjoyed the blog hop this Wednesday with the new releases. I know we all enjoyed creating something for you.

This card I made to really highlight the image. I used a very straight forward layout of layered patterned paper, some ribbon and a little bling. The cupcake I painted entirely with Shimmerz Opal, Coffee and Mint. Sounds yummy, looks yummy.

I wanted to let you know, too, before you leave that there are some new members to the design team so be sure to visit them at their blog homes and see what they have been up to. Give them a warm welcome.

Tough times and how to deal

Before you panic, what I'm talking about are the ups and downs of having a 5-year-old boy, being a stay-at-home mom and a homeschooler to boot.

Life isn't always easy. These past weeks have been tough on the both of us since hubby's away at work abroad.

But life goes on. And when the going gets tough, the tough go scrapping.

Here's an art journal page I made on an envelope to let it all out.

I used Queen Kat Designs' fabulous Ride With Me Stamp Set. Such a versatile and very useful set. Totally essential to your stamp arsenal.

Hi everyone, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Stephanie and I am truly honored to have been selected as a new Royal Stamping Maid for Queen Kat Designs. I am so excited and can't wait to get my stamps. This month there are over 30 new releases and they are going to be awesome to work with. And, since all the stamps are on SALE (and who doesn't love a sale?), it is the perfect time to purchase them.

I wanted to create a card for a friend so I used the Heart's Stamp Set, one of my favorite sets.



I stamped with Ranger Ginger ink and then cut out the flowers and the bracket. I used the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder on the flowers for some added dimension and the Allegro embossing folder with a touch of ink on some Making Memories pattern paper. I then assembled the card onto some Bazzill cardstock. A perfect, quick and easy card for a friend.

I was lucky enough to play with Top Hat Girl this month. She is from a brand new designer, Che Gilison. I am ABSOLUTELY in LOVE with her and I had such a blast making my projects for the month.

For this one, I colored her with my Copics and mounted on lime green card stock. For the background I used paper from the Basic Grey Eerie line. To finish her off, I added some flowers, punched bats, a pretty border and some ribbon. I hope you love her as much as I do! Now, don't wait, hurry over to the store and pick her up for yourself!!

Lunchbox Love

I just love putting little notes in my kids backpacks or lunchbox. Here I used the robot from Over The Moon & some Basic Grey papers to make a cute little card for just that! This particular one is a little larger than my normal 3x3, a rectangle of about 3.25 x 3.5.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle into a Cute Gift

Happy Tuesday everyone. I am having such fun playing with these Queen Kat Designs Stamps. I used the Mini Sweets set again for the sentiment. I have been using this stamp set over and over. Don't you just love when you feel that you are really getting your money's worth?

Guess what I used to make my Halloween popper? A toilet paper roll. I just love using up something that we would have thrown away. I painted the inside edges down about an inch so that you would see orange if you could see inside rather than the cardboard color. I put candy corn in my popper and put in enough to have to wedge the tissue paper in. I wanted to make sure that it would stay in.

I hope that you might try creating a holiday or any occasion popper. People love these.

You're the Coolest

I just love buying collection packs of paper. I love that you not only get the paper, but also get the stickers and an alphabet. Here's a card I made featuring the robot from the Over the Moon set and some Basic Grey Lime Rickey paper. The sentiment was included in the collection pack. I die cut the label shape using my nestabilities. Have a great day!

Sundays are for Stampin' - October 4th

Hello there, and welcome to another edition of Sundays are for Stampin' - in two days is my hubby's birthday, and I LOVE making a big deal out of birthdays...just not my own!! =) Next Sunday I may share with you the birthday card I made him!

The card I want to share with you today is another Halloween card - yes, I guess you could say I am way ahead on these - and the cool part is, unless you're really paying attention, at first it's difficult to tell what I added to this wonderful, glittery paper by Little Yellow Bicycle (LYB).

In the lower left of the card, to the right of the silly headstone, I have used step 2 of the two-step tree - it is stamped in black and heat-embossed with clear/bridal powder.

I used the top of the same tree stamp to create the designs in the upper left and right corners!

Altering a frame

Hello!

Last wednesday we were challenged to alter a frame, never did anything like this, but I like to be challenged so I started with buying a frame.
I have a lovely border stamp from Queen Kat Designs and wanted to use this in my altering.
Because I only bought 1 frame, I was scared to use it directly on the wood, so I stamped it on paper building an 'inner' frame. Then cut it to make it more 'alive'.

I wanted to alter the frame itself, there I used arrows and a heart which I painted.
I printed out a photo from my husband and me on the beach on a very windy day.

Stampin Saturday Part II

I thought I would try something a little different this week - I wanted to make a lollipop style flower, but I did not want to have to cut out all those circles! So, I grabbed my brown cone-style coffee filters (yes coffee filters!) I never use these because my coffee pot doesn't not work with them, so the box is just sitting there. I used the first one as is, and then cut down two more. I crumbled and inked (love distressing!) and then used the swirly leaf stamp from the September Royal Card Kit Psst! There is only one kit left!!!

I love the way it turned out!!! Don't forget the new releases will be out on Wednesday!!! I can't wait!

Stampin' Saturday

This picture is in the altered frame I made for last Wednesday's design team blog hop. While working on the project, I ended up with extra copies of the picture so I turned one into a photo card. The map is a 12 x 12" scrapbook patterned paper, Travel Map, from the Travel Collection by Adornit/Carolee's Creations. (If you're a follower of this blog than you know the QKD Design Team participated in Adornit's July 31 Blog Hop. Once again, I teamed up Adornit paper with QKD stamps.) I have some old jewelry from my aunt. I re-purposed this bird by pinning it to a felt flower. I wanted a more open feel to this card so I used red (to match the bird's eye) Kaiser pearls along the bottom. The sentiment is from the QKD Take a Journey Greetings set: Take only memories leave nothing but footprints (Chief Seattle). (Tip: If you're worried about stamping a perfect image on your finished card, try stamping on acetate or vellum and adding it for a see-through affect.) The photo and the QKD sentiment stamp are a perfect match, don't you think? I hope you have time to scrap a lot this Saturday.

Vintage Chritmas Tag

Christmas? Yep I've been thinking about it already. I've been working on prototypes for gift tags. I usually like to have them be themed and I've been working a vintage angle for the baked goods I give my neighbors. This tag is a mix of alcohol inks, Distress embossing powder, Elegant Swirls (I'm publicly admitting to my addiction to this set) and some layering and sponging for depth.


I definitely love this larger swirl, you can see in the close up how detailed it is. This set is perfect for so many projects and styles. Here I've worked it out in Distressed embossing powder. I've also stamped it in brights, pastels, and copper embossing powder. It can look sweet with floral images or elegant, playful or regal.

Transparency tags and a notebook

I made this little nugget box and am planning to put little chocolate nuggets inside.

But in the meantime, I made it pretty with patterned paper, a bright red ribbon and of course one of the cute robots from the Space Bots Stamp Set stamped on transparency.


But once I started stamping, it got kinda addicting and I ended up with some more robot friends. These could be used as more tags or even as bookmarkers.

And since we've been staying with my Mom for a while and I needed some time to be left alone, I made this robot notebook for my son.

It's just the robot stamped on transparency, then I cut the transparency in half as the front and back covers of a homemade notebook. Grab some 8.5" x 11" white cardstock cut in half to be used as pages, punch through all the pages and close with a fastener and consider it done.

Thursday Butterflies

Good Morning and Happy Thursday! I wanted to show a quick little something that I whipped up a while back. I used the Butterfly from the Friends set for this card.

The background stamp in the upper left corner is from the June bird set. I just love it when I can make my own designer paper buy using a stamp I already have. To finish it off I used a sentiment from the Take a Journey set. Well, I hope you enjoyed it! I have to run and catch a flight, have a great day!!!
