Thank you Helene

I would like to thank Helene for a great 8 months. As she wraps up her term with QKD I'd like to share some of my favorite highlights of her time with us.

This first card is wonderful. If I remember right it was a card that she made when she applied for the royal court. She used the Birthday cake stamp set from QKD and lots of black and white. Very classy!

This next card was one that she made for me for my 29th birthday. Yes, my REAL 29th birthday not my 2nd or 3rd. :) I'm not there yet! I love this card so much. The colors are just awesome! She got the holding part right! :) And last but never least, this card is awesome!! I love how she did the shading and the fun background for the tree. It looks picture purrrfect.
So to you my dear friend, Helene, thank you for all that you have done while on the court. We are so blessed to have a friend like you. Take care and God Bless.

Stampin' Inchies on Saturday

Minchies, Inchies, Twinchies.  Mini squares. One inch squares.  Two inch squares.  Today we'll look at some inchies.  You can buy a one inch square punch or you can buy precut inchies which might make the process easier. (I have a tendency to cut paper crooked, so both are a big help to me.)   Inchies add an interesting dimension to your cards.
Here's one of the first QKD cards I made--hot pink on craft paper.  I put three inchies across the bottom as embellishments:
Lara used the images on her inchies as her focal point.
This is Anita's card, layered/stacked with the inchie on top, yet it's part of the total design:

Wynneth used inchies as a background.

The possibilities are endless.

This is my last Stampin' Saturday post for Queen Kat Designs.  My eight month term has come to a close.  I want to thank Queen Kat for taking me along on a wonderful ride.

I hope you have time to stamp a lot this weekend!   You can still find me at the Castle or at my blog.

Welcome to Royal Kat Monday! This week, we have a color challenge: use the colors, red, chocolate brown, and aqua.

I used the color scheme to make a Valentine for my son. I used the Furry Monsters set, and matching sentiment from the Monster Mash Bundle. I colored the monster in with Copics, and used Basic Grey and Cosmo Cricket paper. I added some heart brads from my stash,

Thanks for stopping by! Now hop on over to Jules to see what she has done with the color challenge.

Spotlight on Stampin' Saturday

An easy way to tackle those detailed stamps is to color only part of the image. This technique is called spotlighting.  Stamp your image.  Decide which part of your image you want to spotlight by coloring it.  You can do it on the first stamped image as Penny did.  Or you can stamp the image a second time on another piece of paper; punch out the portion that you want to spotlight; color it; then place it on top of the first uncolored image. That is what Alex did.
Here's one by Penny using the Mr. Stalone stamp:

This is what Alex created with the Koi Pond Mermaid:

So grab one of those great detailed stamps in the QKD store and try this technique. You can do it!
In the meantime, hope you have time to stamp a lot!.  Helene aka 2amscrapper at  LOTSA SCRAP

Royal Sketch Monday, part 2

This week, we are showing off our Paris set. We have another sketch for you:

And here is my take on it:

I used the Bon Voyage stamp. This is my favorite stamp in the set. I colored the hat red and purple because it reminded me of the Red Hat Society. I used some My Mind's Eye paper and I sewed the two borders with my sewing machine.

There ya go! Now hop on over to Jules to see her take on the sketch.

Stampin' Saturday using Distressed Paper

Hi QKD Bloggers!  It's another snowy weekend where I live.  I have an easy technique for you today.  For a different look on your project, try crumpling your paper and then highlighting the creases with ink.
Here is a card I made with the QKD Owl and Stumpy set last fall.  You can see how the ink emphasizes the creases and adds some extra interest.  I use Tim Holtz for Ranger Distress Inks and apply the ink to the creases with sponge applicators.

Take a look at this map I downloaded from a website which I'm using as the background patterned paper for my card.  I distressed the edges with my scissors.  It was perfectly fine that the scissors ripped the paper in a few places.  My mission was to make the map look well-worn from a tourist's trip.  I used three different colors of Ranger ink to distress the edges: Antique Linen, Old Paper, and Vintage Photo.

Want to see the card I made with this background?  It's under wraps until the new stamp reveal on Monday--so see you back here for the start of the QKD Royal Court Blog Hop bright and early Monday morning!

In the meantime, hope you have time to stamp a lot!.  Helene aka 2amscrapper at  LOTSA SCRAP

Get Inky with Me!

Hi Everyone out there in Queen Kat Land!

Please let me introduce myself, I am Roni Johnson (Ink Stained Roni) and I'm the new designer for the Get Inked monthly kits.

Since this is my first post on Queen Kat's blog I thought I'd take this chance to tell you a little bit about myself.

I live in NE Indiana with my high school sweetheart Eric and our two boys Ben & Bob. We have a small farm where we raise chickens, pigs and Hereford cows.

I am the author of Teach Yourself Visually - Collage & Altered Arts. It is a step by step photo technique book covering a wide range of subjects including everything from image transfer techniques, charms, altered arts, altered books and more.
I was previously a member of the Ranger Design Team and still work with Ranger on a regular basis. If you were at CHA you probably saw several of my projects in their display. (my art travels far more than I do!) And one of my Adirondack Alcohol Ink techniques is currently on their home page.

I also design for Streuter Technologies, makers of GlueFilm & GlueFoil.

I spend much of my time creating and writing my blog ~ Ink Stains with Roni where I share a wide variety of rubber stamping art, techniques and whatever comes to mind on a daily basis.

I'm bringing with me my love of all things vintage plus my passion for techniques to Queen Kat's Get Inked kits. I am so happy to join Queen Kat's Court of Royal Designers and I hope you will enjoy the kits, stamps and projects as much as I enjoy creating them for you!

Here is a little peek into February's kit -

Spotlight Thursday - Hello Honey

It's a LOVE-ly day in the neighborhood!! Hope you are having a wonderful day with your love and dear ones and making sure to tell them all how much you care for them. I try to make sure to do this everyday. I thought this would be a good week to put Hello Honey in the spotlight. I have to admit that this is one of my favorite stamp sets, love the vintage feel to it.

Another thing I love doing every week is going through our gallery to see who I'm going to spotlight. Here's this week's features...If you have suggestions as to what you think next week's stamp spotlight should be email me and we'll put it into consideration.

Among the new ones are 2 new mermaids from our Whimsical Ink Sorority... 2 new border stamps... a couple new steampunk stamp sets and more. {I have tried and tried to attach a couple photos but Blogger is giving me fits!}

I'm happy to also welcome a new person to our Court, Bronwyn Velazquez. I had the total pleasure of meeting her at CHA. She sat 1 seat away from me in the Tim Holtz class and I was introduced to her after class. It was so nice to make a new friend at CHA. So, please welcome our new crafty friend, Bronwyn.
