Hi guys.  This is Emily here with what was supposed to be a new card.  We had a horrible storm here in NEPA on Thursday which knocked out our power and phone.  We just got our power back and our phone is still out.  I wasn't able to craft all weekend and with no A/C, it was next to unbearable here.  I will work on getting my new project done either tonight or tomorrow and will have it posted no later than tomorrow night.  I know you have been inspired by the beautiful projects that have been posted lately.  I know I am.  Thanks for stopping by QKD's blog and I hope you are all surfing through the great blogs from the design team.  Have a good Sunday afternoon.

Passionate for Purple

I fall in love with colors!  How about you?  Today it's the many moods and shades of purple, which works perfectly for Queen Kat Design's Orchid Wyvern Dragon by artist Teal Newcombe on my card.  It practically blooms with the purples and orchids in my project.
Besides the patterned paper and cardstock, I stamped the card background with another QKD stamp called Fight the Flame, all in shades of purple.  Next I colored my image with my Copics, adding the teal color for contrast, while coordinating it with my cardstock card base.
I had the most fun picking out the shiny embellishments from my "can o' leftovers" from previous projects.
FYI:  According to Wikipedia, "wyvern...(pronounced why-vern w/accent on first syllable) is a legendary winged creature with a dragon's head, reptilian body, two legs (sometimes none), and a barbed tail.

Just thought you'd want to know.  I did, as it has caught my fancy this last month!

Zombie Door Hanger

Good morning, Steph here with another look at the Zombie stamp by Rossana Castellino.  Isn't she the cutest?  Whoever thought a Zombie could be so adorable!!

I colored the stamped image with Spica pens for a little bit of pizzazz.  Then I turned this cutie into a door hanger for Halloween.

After coloring her, I cut apart the background and mounted her on some starred paper, then I die cut all the layers to give her some depth. A bit of ink finished her off along with a little sign tied with some twine.

Now who wouldn't want to come to your house for Halloween treats!

Thanks for stopping by today.

CHARMED I'm sure

I stamped this image from Queen Kat onto shrink film, colored it from the opposite side with copic markers hole punched it and shrank it.  I attached it to this key chain for an attractive purse pull or charm for your cell phone or camera.

This project only took 10 minutes to complete.  Making it fast, easy and most importantly fun!

On a side note, for those wonderful folks who are emailing me, our family is fine.  Craig (oldest stupid-head) will be re-indited in Federal Court in Baltimore on Wednesday.  He is facing serious charges and serious prison time.  I will be posting soon the details but until then just keep us in thoughts and prayers.

Stamp Happy be a blessing!

Orchid Wyvern Dragon by Teal Newcombe

The lovely Queen Kat Designs image, Orchid Wyvern Dragon by artist Teal Newcombe, inspired my passion for purple today!  I made a trifold card measuring 4x4 and cut a window in the front piece using my Creative Memories Circle cutting system.

The second piece of my card showcases mt Copic-colored image, stamped black on white cardstock.  The colors are more purple and violet and orchid, but lighting and a cheap camera just won't capture this today.

I used Stickles to make him shine, framing him with a smaller circle of coordinating cardstock.
The very inside piece of my card holds my sentiment, "Life is Good".

Orchid Wyvern Dragon is a QKD July release and ready to be stamped and colored for your crafting pleasure.  You can find him at the SHOPPE!!

Christmas Kisses

I'm on a roll here with my collection of 2012 Christmas cards, thanks to the July stamp release!!  This time I made an easel card with Kissletoe, a gorgeous image by artist Trish Shufelt.

The cardbase is from the Holiday Collection by DCWV.  All the diecuts and embellishments are leftovers from previous projects.

What I love about this card is that I fussy-cut the image, and it wasn't too difficult!  That's because I found a new tool that has become my go-to tool for fussy-cutting my images.  Here's a photo of the tool that I picked up at my local scrapbooking store.
It looks like  tweezers, and all I have to do is squeeze the handle end and the scissors end cuts.  It gives me so much precision!!

Meanwhile, back to my card, I like it better open, like above, but it looks pretty good closed, too, which is how my sister and her husband will see it first when they open the envie.  Here's what it looks like closed.

So now I have two Christmas cards-only twenty-two more to make!!  I know a lot of crafters who choose one design and make all their cards the same, but I am lucky to have quite a few Christmas stamps, so I like to mix it up a bit every year!!  How about you?  Less time on the same cards, or more time on a bunch of different ones?

Stamp: Queen Kat
Markers: Copic Markers, Spica Pens
Ink: Clearsnap

Hey guys.  It's Emily again with another card.  I was supposed to have posted this on Saturday, but our computer blinked out and our internet box went kaplooy.  So, I am finally able to post.  I couldn't even send an email to Vikki to let her know because the internet in our area was down.  It was a rough weekend.

This stamp can be purchased over on Queen Kat Designs.  You guys should jump on over and take a gander at the cool stamps she has over there.  So without any more gabbin' here's Luna.
I colored her in with colored pencils and OMS.  I used Sakura Glitter Pens for the butterfly.  Th ribbon and flowers at the bottom I found in a clearance bin at JoAnns.  I hope you like this one.  Make sure to check out  Queen Kat Designs for her 25% off sale going on now.  Thanks for stopping by.

Christmas in July!!

Have you started making your Christmas cards yet?  Well, have I got a treat for you!!
QKD is releasing some sweet Christmas stamps so you can start early, just like Santa's elves!!
Speaking of elves, here are two taking a break and I think they kinda like each other.  Their caps are twisted  together and how fortunate that there's a tiny bit of Mistletoe hanging from their cap ends!!
This newly-released stamp is called KISSLETOE and is designed by artist Trish Shufelt.  The detail of the two holiday sweethearts is fantastic!  I decided to circle-cut the image and distress the white background with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink and my blending tool.  I applied tiny green "wreath branches" around the circle that were punched out from assorted green cardstocks, and added tiny red jewels for berries.
The card base is from DCWV's Holiday Collection box of cards.  I ink-distressed the edges.
I finished off the card with a cardstock sentiment sticker.
Ah, young love, especially during the holidays!!  Since my son is getting married this summer, I will send this card to him and his new wife, as it will be their first Christmas together.  Sweet!!

Birthday Wishes

Good morning, Steph here with an amazing stamp by Renee Lavoie. She is called Sea Witch and I can think of so many different ways to use her.

Since I needed a birthday card, I thought she'd be perfect. I colored her with Copic Markers, then cut her out. I placed her on a circle die cut to help her stand out from the background papers.

Isn't she precious?  A little Spica pen for some pizzazz was added to her sceptor and her bikini top.

Supplies:
Pattern paper:  MyMinds Eye
Stamp: Queen Kat, Hero Arts
Markers: Copic Markers, Spica Pens
Dies: Spellbinders

How Hot Is It?

I don't know about your neck of the woods, but here in Chicago, summer started about mid-May!  We've already broken a few high temp records, with more to come.  So much for biking to work!  By the time I get off, it's almost 100 degrees.

So, although this gorgeous Queen Kat Designs image by Teal Newcomb is called Orchid Wyvern Dragon,  the weather drove me to light him on fire with the hot reds and oranges of summer days.

Of course, I had a little help with another QKD stamp called Fight the Flame.  I stamped that in red and heat-embossed it all in red again.  I also used a piece of DCWV patterned paper from the Fairy Tale line, cutting some excess flames and treating it the same way.  Then I made it pop out with dimensional dots.  Catch more July releases and plenty of inspiration on Facebook!

Above the flames I highlighted my fiery dragon, added the sentiment "Hot Enough For You?" and added a jagged corner "just cuz".  So, how hot is it?

It's so hot...I melted on my way home and had to wait two hours before the paramedics scraped me off the sidewalk!!  Where's autumn when you need it??
