Nov. 30 Blog Hop: Sketch

Wow, November just whizzed by didn't it? And now the countdown to Christmas begins!

Want to have a sneak peek of the December release stamps? *wink* Course you do! Read on.

For this week's Royal Kat Tuesday challenge, we were asked to work with this awesome sketch with the December release stamps.

Here's my card using the lovely A Walk Down Memory Lane Stamp Set designed by the talented Irene Tan:

I was gushing over this stamp set when I first saw it. (Still do!) And, yup, it isn't really a Christmas stamp set but you can definitely imagine the possibilities with it.

I also used the sentiment from the Candy Cane Greetings Stamp Set.

And here's the Blog Hop order in case you get lost along the way:

Angel Kitty

Angel Kitty was a commission from a good friend. She asked it to be a portrait of her beloved CiCi. I loved working on this one. Being able to create a painting that means so much to someone made the work an extra joy.
Of course she is now also a rubber stamp at QKD. I think that she would make a wonderful Christmas card or a Valentine. You can color her to look like your favorite kitty.

Making backgrounds for ATCs

Been playing around with copper and gold acrylic paints and watercolors.

And of course the gorgeous Winter Birdcage Stamp.

Set Yourself Free ATC

Supplies:
thick watercolor paper (from a sketchbook); gesso; acrylic paint (gold, copper, black); dictionary page; Maya Road or other bird embellishment; Dymo tape; metal charms; Ranger Inkssentials Glossy Accents; Winter Birdcage Stamp; Versafine.

Tip: To make the paper sturdier, paint gesso as a first layer and dry. Use a make-up sponge to create a smooth finish of acrylic paint. Squirt on copper and gold acrylic paint directly on a whole page of watercolor paper. Squirt black paint last and only along the four edges then blend in. If the black paint is too dark, add more copper and gold. Cut up watercolor paper into ATC size.

Beauty in the eye of the beholder ATC

Supplies:
thick watercolor paper (from a sketchbook); watercolors (in tubes); Winter Birdcage Stamp; Dymo tape; Ranger Inkssentials Glossy Accents; postage stamp; flowers; pearl string.

Tip:
Paint your watercolor paper with water. Place watercolor colors of choice in small individual dish per color. Dilute watercolors before painting on paper. Once watercolor is on paper, paint again with water. To get splotches of black watercolor, drip watered down black color on spots on the page. Paint more water to dilute the black. If the black is too dark, simply add white watercolor or more blue color.

Flitter

I love art nouveau designs. All the little twists, turns and swirls. Making them is almost a meditation. While working on this painting back in April, I got so lost in it, that I was up all night finishing it. I really like how the wings appear translucent.
I can't wait to get the stamp in, because I am looking forward to trying out new colors on the design. I think this is going to be my Christmas card design with gold embossing and red wings and flowers. Or maybe some green wings.

Christmas Gift Tin

Hi! Just wanted to share a simple and easy gift tin to make as a Christmas gift.

This is a Maya Road tin I use to store my bottlecaps. It's super easy to simply trace and cut some patterned paper for the bottom of the tin and inside, while adhering pieces with double-sided tape on top, along with some fun Christmas stickers and pretty ribbon.

And here are some close-ups:

Stamps: Peppermint Girl Stamp, Candy Cane Greetings Stamp Set

What kind of creative Christmas gifts are you giving this year? Would love to hear!

Thursday Focus

Hi everyone! This is Penny bringing you another edition of Thursday focus.

Today, instead of focusing on just one stamp set, I thought I would focus in on Birthdays and images that are perfect for birthday cards! While I pulled a few out of the gallery, the birthday fun is endless, so you definitely still need to check out the gallery and the store for more birthday ideas!

Birthday Loli is a great stamp to use.

Did you forget a birthday, then don't miss this Belated Birthday Stamp Set!

And the Birthday Cake Stamp Set is perfect for all birthday cards (even wedding cards!)

How about Cupcake Friends for a great birthday card or box?
