Time for a New Release!

Did you attend the new release party at Queen Kat Designs on Facebook?  I was one of the lucky commentators to score a free QKD digi of Lizzy Love #25 by artist Lizzy Love!  How cool is that?!
So this is what I did with my new digi.
I colored her with Copics. Her original look sports a shamrock headband, but I decided to place flower sequins on the shamrocks for a pure spring look.  Then I distressed the edges and framed her with cardstock before adding her to an embossed and sanded card face.
I embellished with sparkling buttons, circle borders and some jute.  My sentiment is from a K&Co sticker sheet. I finished off my card with white gel pen lines around the perimeter of the card and boxing around my sentiment.
I don't know about you but I am SO ready for Spring. After spending Spring break in Seattle, where Spring is blossoming in the greenest greens and the boldest colors, it was so difficult to return to the last remnants of mucky snow and brown brown grass in Chicago. Ugh!
So I'm daring Mother Nature to catch up with my crafting by washing her hands of winter and welcoming Spring in all its beauty! Come on, Mom, let's see some sunshine and blooms and greenery!!  Are you with me, crafters?!
We would certainly love to see some cards and projects using QKD stamps and digis.  Please share them with us on Facebook!!  You never know when another contest will pop up!  besides, you can get some very awesome inspiration there.
Like what you see?  Stop by the Shop and have fun!

Lizzy Love #16

Today I am showing a page from my art journal using the Lizzy Love #16  Stamp available at Queen Kat Designs.

For this page, I used white gesso on the background and using Italian Sunset Mist, Alaskan Salmon, and Blitzen mists all by Tattered Angels.  I stamped with chalk ink in pink grapefruit  and  key lime.  I added dots of acrylic paint using Jenni Bowlin paint in a yellow-orange shade.  I also colored the title and other circles using colored pencils.  Lizzy lovely was colored using Copic Markers and cut and placed on the page.  This one is all ready for my latest thoughts on connection.

Thanks for stopping by!

Spring Parade

Hip hip hooray, celebrate the day--Spring weather has finally arrived!  And about time too!
So to celebrate, I have created a parade on my card today with an April release called Happy Spring Chick by artist Jacquelynne Steves.
I printed my digi image at two different sizes to make it look like a mother hen and her chicks. I colored my images with Copics and framed it with cardstock. I used patterned papers from Marcella by K "Fiesta Birthday paper pack (including the circles used as embellishments). I also embellished with jeweled butterflies from Recollections and a paper-crafted butterfly from my leftover stash.
"Happy Spring Chick" is available in the QKD Shop, along with many other fabulous images and rubber stamps.  Good news: rubber stamps are also available already cling-mounted!

Lizzy Love

Here's one of my new favorites at the Queen Kat Store, this image is Lizzy Love number 21.  All of this artist's image are so wonderful!! I colored this girl up in bright yellows with a pink skirt. Do you love the flocked paisley paper?

Drop by the store and check out all the Lizzy Love images, so hard to pick a favorite, but I am definitely partial to number 7 and number 21.  Eek, so cute!

Cheers, Holley

I Think You are Lovely

What a perfect design for an any occasion pick-me-up card!  Lizzy is sporting her cute Uggs and her kitty top.  For this card I used Lizzy Lovely #16 from the store at Queen Kat Designs.  She was colored with Copic markers and Sakura Gel pens.  The simple card features a 5 1/2 inch by 4 1/4 inch white card blank, blue polka dot paper from Gina K Designs and embellishments from Freckled Fawn.  Each layer was inked with light blue chalk ink.

This card assembles quickly with dry adhesive and is a fun card for a good friend!
Have a wonderful day and I'll be back next Saturday with more for QKD!

Happy Spring!

Today my card showcases another new release, this time from artist  Jacquelynne Steves.  It's called Happy Spring Chick.
I made a card using color blocking, as I don't make many that way and I need to stretch my crafting occasionally so I don't get stuck in a rut.  The patterned papers are a mix of leftover and my own hand-painted background using watercolors.
After decorating the top with various pieces of lace and trim, I added a few jewels and a nice sparkly button to denote the longer days and warmer Spring temps.  A tiny bouquet finishes off my card.
I colored my chick with Copics, then distressed the edges using Tim Holtz Faded Jeans distress ink. My chick looks so happy, waving her banner to announce that Spring is (finally) here!  I'm happy, too!
You can find Jacquelynne's Spring Chick at the QKD Shop.  For more inspiration, check out the Queen Kat Designs Facebook page.  And as always, happy crafting!

Life's Good

Here's an adorable new image that came out this month at the Queen Kat store. This image is called Planting Carrots Bunny Wabbit from artist Mary Ellen Smith.  I think this image would be adorable for Easter, as well as for those cute friends who love to garden, which is great for springtime.

I added some cute carrots on the right side from Jolees, as well as some large carrot brads.  The papers are a gorgeous shimmers mica cardstock from Paper Temptress.  I hope you love this fun image, Mary Ellen Smith has lots of cute rabbits and duck in her stamp line at the store!

Cheers, Holley

Muah! Love Queen Kat Designs Stamps!

Love this adorable stamp from QKD!  She is a modern gal, with a cool vibe.
For this card, I used a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 white card blank, the background patterned paper is from Webster's Pages, with the thin polka dot stripe being the back side of the background paper.  I added some light aqua vintage lace and the word bubble sentiment.

The image was colored with gel markers and Copic Markers.  I love her "washed out" denim shorts, pink UGGs and sweet pink jacket.  I gave her some light blue and purple highlights in her hair, too!  This is a totally adorable modern girl! The stamp is called Lizzy Lovely #16, just click on her name to be taken to her page!

Hope you all love her as much as I do!

Time for a Birthday....

Another card using one of Deborah Mullers new "Alice in Waterland" images.

Make sure you check out the Queen Kat Store for all the other images in this "series" - they are great - nice & quirky & fun to colour!

And make sure you check out the "Paper Doll" Stamp Sets by Deborah as well - I would love to have one of those sets!

Patterned papers are from a 6 x 6 paper pad from My Mind's Eye - I love the colourings of these papers - I tried to colour my image with matching Copic Markers.

I added some little mushroom cut outs, Happy Birthday wording and a clock charm.

I hope you are all having a great week!

See you next week for some more inspiration!

Bloomin' Basket Heralds Spring

Pat here with a QKD April release.  It's called Bloomin Basket by artist Jacquelynne Steves and it is just loaded with colorful blooms in anticipation of Spring!

I made a specially-folded card that was inspired by an image on Pinterest.  I like it because it has a pocket in which to put surprises for the recipient.  In this case, it looks like a flower pot, so behind Jacquelynne's image, I plan on putting a seed packet in its pocket and send this card to somebody special!
After cutting and folding my "flower pot," I added patterned papers from Basic Grey and the Paper Studio. I colored my basket with Copics, giving them sparkle and shine with smooch and Liquid Glass. The basket seemed to get lost on the patterned paper, so I colored a small paper doily with ink to frame it and then attached it to the front of my card.  I embellished simply with flower sequins, as the patterned paper was enough eye candy.
You can find Bloomin' Basket by Jacquelynne Steves in the QKD Shop. Happy crafting!
