Saturday Again!

Wow, where has the week gone? If you are like me, it flew by and you still are trying to catch up!

So, here's a card for you today! It is one of my old ones, but one that I absolutely love. It is a spinner card; I made it for a QKD challenge and it was so much fun:

Don't forget to get ready for the Release party on Wednesday!!!!

SURPRISE!

Guess what?? I'm releasing 3 new stamp sets today!! I just can't wait for the release party on March 4th... So consider these a teaser for what's coming then. Beverly, Ashley and I have been having so much fun playing with these stamps. How about some Geisha fun?
Come on over to the store to pick these up! There are 3 sets in all and they have 2 geisha's a piece! :)

Home!

It seems like the last few weeks (and a few more to go) alllllll I've done is run run run...go go go....plan plan plan....

So when I took a few minutes for myself today to sit and create something I decided I needed to remind myself of the sweetness of home....I pulled out the Sending Love Home set, such a sweet set! I took a few minutes to create a little card I will use while I'm on tour with our middle school choir in a few weeks to the 3 kiddos that will be still home.....Just reminding them that as much as I will be enjoying what I will be doing (going crazy with 220 6/7/8th graders and 50 other adults), I will be sending my love home too!

This set is so sweet and cute! It is a MUST for everyone's stamping stash!

DINO HAS STRIPES!

I just love this litte guy! Isn't he the cutest! I used several pieces of my Hawaiian dsp. I stamped Dino by Queen Kat Designs in stazon onto a striped piece, then used coordinating dsp for the half circle and rectangle panels, and solid colors for mats. I used my scallop edge punch on the rectangle panel and added brads to dino where he spots would normally be. I used my aquapainter with kiwi kiss and old olive ink for the grass, and to give dino some color. The ribbon is certainly celery grosgrain.

Head on over to the store to get your Dino & Gweedo set... this is a great set for boy cards and scrapbooking..

Additional Info
Paper: old olive, tangerine tango, chocolate chip, whisper white, Hawaiian Papaya dsp Ink: kiwi kiss, old olive, stazon
Accessories: brads, ribbon, ticket corner punch, scallop edge punch, friskars adjustable circle cutter

Thanks for looking and have a great week!

Think Warm Weather

Oh how i wouldnt sacfrice every bone in my body to spend the week in Hawaii!!  But since that will never happen in the near future, I guess I am just going to have to bring Hawaii to me.

The whole entire time I was making the card I was thinking how badly I wished it was 80 degrees outside with the sun beating down on my face, I know right? Keep deaming.  Anyways, I used an old Take 3 set from QKD to make this card.  Although the T3 Kits are no longer being offered, there are still many other awesome kits that are being offered.  Head over to the store to check them out.

Jazz Up Your Pattern Paper with some Stamping

This is a technique that I've used in one of my recent layout. I've used the "harlequin" background stamp and the "heart" from the Romance stamp set in February's Get Inked! Kit in the process of jazzing up my pattern paper.

Here's what I've done.

1) Stamp the "harlequin" background stamp image on the area using clear embossing ink and pour some fine clear embossing powder over it. Tilt the excess and emboss it using a heating tool.

2) Ink the area using some lighter shade of distress ink.

3) Stamp the "heart" image on it using clear embossing ink and heat emboss it again with some fine clear embossing powder.

4) Ink over it with some darker shade of distress ink. Use as many shades of distress inks as you wish. Use a wet wipe to wipe off the distress ink on top of the heat embossed image.
5) Lastly, sprinkle some water onto it using your fingers to create a water distressing effect.
This is a very easy technique to add a little personal touch to your pattern paper. Try it!

It's that time again!!!

Time to show off some more GI fun!
Here is another sample I've just whipped together to show off the fabulous Queen Kat Designs Get Inked Club! I just adore this club!!! I love getting new stuff to play with each month. This card was made with the February kit which sold out uber fast, but if you sign up for a subscription you don't have to worry about missing out! It will automatically show up in your mailbox each month. I don't know about you, but I think that is one heck of a treat for yourself! I'm always bugging the Queen Kat herself to send my kits out early. Sure we will use trying to make some samples as an excuse, but just between you and me.... I just want to play with the new goodies! :D So reward yourself today and go sign up!
For this card I used an overhead transparency as the base. I painted on the Distress crackle paint that came with the kit. You are suppose to wait for the paint to completely dry but I've never been known for my patience. I stamped the bars of music in white ink onto a scallop black square and tore the bottom off. I stamped the heart, colored with copic markers, then added crystal lacquer and clear microbeads over top. I also stamped the lace onto white cardstock then inked it with charcoal ink. I glued all of this down, pop dotted the heart and added a bit of velvet ric rac! Easy as pie!
What do you think?

A DINO-MITE BIRTHDAY!

Isn't he just the cutest little dinosaur! I love him.. I am a little confused, I am not sure if he is Dino or Gweedo. There are two dinosaurs in this set and I just love both of them. I needed a boy birthday card for a neighbor and love how this turned out. I took a strip of old olive and used my scissors to cut tiny strips for a grassy look. I colored Dino with my aquapainter using my tangerine tango ink pad, then added some googlie eyes. The sentiment is computer generated and popped up. I used my slot punch and attached the black gingham ribbon.

Thanks for looking,
Beverly

Additional Information
Stamps: Dino & Gweedo by Queen Kat Designs
Paper: whisper white, old olive
Ink: stazon, tangerine tango
Accessories: aquapainter, slot punch, black gingham ribbon, googlie eyes

Saturday Party!

Okay, so DH and DS are headed off to a birthday party this afternoon for DH's stepsister. DD and I would go, but she has been super sick the last couple of days, but when I went to pull out a card to send with DH, I realized that I didn't have any adult cards. I have several made which are great for kids, but I needed something a little older.

So, I went with the best thing -- I used my Feb. Royal kit to make a card. Yes, I know that the kit is sold out! But, that should be more of a reason to get a subscription! Even better than a subscription to the Royal Kit, upsize to a Combo kit!

Just what is a combo kit you ask? The best of both worlds (sorry, DD has been watching some HM today!). But, really -- it is a subscription to both the Royal Kit and the Get Inked kit! You can choose between the 6 x 6 kit or the 12 x 12 kit for 6 months or 12 months.

Just think, fabulous stamping goodies delivered each month and you don't have to go out shopping! And when you get the combo kit, it is one payment for the month -- so if your DH says only "ONE KIT" you can say, but honey it is just one kit! LOL! He never has to know!!! So, email QKD at info@katstamps.com to sign up and tell them that Penny sent you and you got the info from the blog!

Flower Patch Stamp Set AND the best part...IT IS ON SALE! You NEED this set!

So...HOP on over and get it NOW!

Have a great day, and think SPRING with me would ya?!

"Think Zen"

This is what Irene told me last night when I asked her if she had any suggestions on what I should make with my January Get Inked stamp set. Well at the moment I was frazzled from a day with kids, had an extra work load added to my already busy deadline schedule, and seriously ticked off at Hubby, so Zen was the LAST thing on my mind!!! But since I knew I really wanted to make something fresh for the blog today I sat there, relaxed a bit and started to play. That is the great thing about stamping, you can make it all your own! You aren't stuck with predetermined color pallets, you can be free to create a look that is all you, and that's just what I did on this card. The colors and all the ink are just so me!

To create this card I rubbed my Peeled Paint Distress ink into my craft mat and dropped a few droplets of water onto it and laid a piece of water color paper over it. Walking over the back with my fingers I was able to push around the ink. I flipped it over and heat set it with my heat gun. I wanted more "spots" so I did this over and over until I was happy with the look of the panel. I also did this with the oval.

I then stamped the tree with Tim Holtz Embossing ink and added Walnut Stain Distress Embossing Powder to it, heated it and let it cool. Once cool, I rubbed the release crystals to get the right look. It was my first time playing with the distress embossing powder and it's hard to tell when it's melted because it doesn't get shiny like other powders, but I love the look after it's all done!

Next I layered the green panel onto a navy one and used an edge distresser around all four edges. (LOVE that thing by the way!!!)

I then Stamped the characters on kraft cardstock with Walnut Stain Distress ink and rubbed the ink pad around the edges, and used foam tape to adhere it to the card.

For the oval I stamped "Dream" with Walnut Stain Distress Ink, and inked the edges with the same color, and adhered it over my strip of kraft cardstock. It really is a very simple card but oh so me! I adore the Get Inked sets from QKD, right now January and February kits are completely sold out but you can pre-order March! So go hit the store and get your kit today!

Queen Kat Royal Wednesday is Here!

Welcome to Queen Kat Royal Wednesday! This week I have a fun one for you and it's to create a "scene". That's right take some stamps mix it up and create a little fun scene on your card. Here is mine:

I used the Queen Kat Get Comfy Set and Mr. Froggie. I created my scene with the Get Comfy Set and colored with my Copic markers. I added Froggie with a pop dot to "sit" in the chair. I think Mr Froggie looks quite comfy in that chair. This next wonderful masterpiece is by Juliet. It looks like we were on the same wavelength and used Mr. Froggie. He really works well with anything don't you think?

If you have not done so already come by the Queen Kat Message boards and chat with everyone. There is alot of fun and games.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you will play along, can't wait to see what you come up with.

It's Lara's Birthday today!!

Happy Birthday hun!!!
I hope you had a great day, and didn't have to work too hard! hehe
Here is a virtual card just for you!

I used DCWV cardstock and pp. I grabbed y cuttlebug and embossing folder to create the background of numbers. Then I took a sanding block to help highlight the bg. I used a square punch for the 3 green squares and stamped the image on them. The threading water border punch was used on the big green piece. I inked all the edges with purple cat's eye chalk ink, and viola! A beautiful, girly birthday card!

Happy Tuesday!

Layout Time!

So today instead of putting up a card, I thought I would share a fun layout that I did.

I used one of the new Queen Kat Designs background stamps -- the Tire Track Background. This is such a versatile stamp. I stamped it twice and then cut down the middle and added it like a patterned paper strip. Love this stamp!!!

A Little Get Inked Flair!

After the crazy month of January I was finally able to sit down and create last night. I recently joined the Get Inked kit club from Queen Kat Designs, not only does a friend of mine design all the stamps (Irene Tan AKA Scrapperlicious) but each kit comes with awesome designs and instructions from her, along with some great goodies!

For example in the January kit I received an Asian stamp set, a Midnight Colorbox ink pad, UTEE, and a bottle of blue Liquid Applique, and all that for under $20. I'm so geeked about this kit club, I can't wait to get February's! Here is where you can find info on the kit if you are interested. January and February kits are sold out, but March kits are available now for preorder. Here is a sneak peak at the stamp set for March! Isn't it just to die for!

If you do order it, please tell Vicki Nikki sent you!
Anyhoo back to my card! I have been having fun making what I call Timmy Sprays lol. Well the first batch I made were all water based for all those great water coloring type techniques, but last night I made some with a rubbing alcohol base (Thanks Spanky!) and I love them! With the alcohol base your glimmer spray dries much faster without having to sit there with a heat gun! Yay for someone as impatient as me! So here is a basic rundown of what I did on this card, Lots of inspiration from the samples and instructions that came with the kit!

I took watercolor paper and sprayed it with Broken China Timmy Mist and then added a bit of Faded Jean Timmy Mist towards the edges. I used Versafine onyx black ink to stamp the flowers, then I created a mask with a post-it and then used the same ink for the Asian writing. I then inked the edges with the Midnight Colorbox ink that came with the kit. I used a bit of white crayon to color in the flowers (Irene's suggestion) then went over the entire panel with some Vintage Photo ink, I wiped the crayon areas off so they were white again. I then added some gold marker to the flowers and a red rhinestone to each.

After that I took a gold leaf pen (By Krylon I get mine at Michaels) and outlined the edge of the panel, and matted it on an inked (with Vintage Photo again) red panel, then onto a black panel that I too edged in gold leaf pen. I used a small hole punch to create two grooves one on bottom and one on top. I strung a few seed beads and tied the thread on the front of the card. I didn't have any gold paper I'm a silver girl myself so I colored a piece of cardstock with the same gold pen, once dry I used a regular sized hole punch to create a postage stamped edge, and matted all of that on an inked blue card base.

Sooooooooooooooo what do you think. Not my usual style of stamps so it's going to take some playing with but I love them. I adore Irene's style I call her my scrapbook goddess, so I'm always excited to get the next kit in the mail! Hope you like my card, go check out the QKD store for info and don't forget to hit up Irene's blog for more sneaks and sample photos!
