"Think Zen"

This is what Irene told me last night when I asked her if she had any suggestions on what I should make with my January Get Inked stamp set. Well at the moment I was frazzled from a day with kids, had an extra work load added to my already busy deadline schedule, and seriously ticked off at Hubby, so Zen was the LAST thing on my mind!!! But since I knew I really wanted to make something fresh for the blog today I sat there, relaxed a bit and started to play. That is the great thing about stamping, you can make it all your own! You aren't stuck with predetermined color pallets, you can be free to create a look that is all you, and that's just what I did on this card. The colors and all the ink are just so me!

To create this card I rubbed my Peeled Paint Distress ink into my craft mat and dropped a few droplets of water onto it and laid a piece of water color paper over it. Walking over the back with my fingers I was able to push around the ink. I flipped it over and heat set it with my heat gun. I wanted more "spots" so I did this over and over until I was happy with the look of the panel. I also did this with the oval.

I then stamped the tree with Tim Holtz Embossing ink and added Walnut Stain Distress Embossing Powder to it, heated it and let it cool. Once cool, I rubbed the release crystals to get the right look. It was my first time playing with the distress embossing powder and it's hard to tell when it's melted because it doesn't get shiny like other powders, but I love the look after it's all done!

Next I layered the green panel onto a navy one and used an edge distresser around all four edges. (LOVE that thing by the way!!!)

I then Stamped the characters on kraft cardstock with Walnut Stain Distress ink and rubbed the ink pad around the edges, and used foam tape to adhere it to the card.

For the oval I stamped "Dream" with Walnut Stain Distress Ink, and inked the edges with the same color, and adhered it over my strip of kraft cardstock. It really is a very simple card but oh so me! I adore the Get Inked sets from QKD, right now January and February kits are completely sold out but you can pre-order March! So go hit the store and get your kit today!
