Royal Kat Tuesday Blog Hop

We're going down memory lane this month as the Royal Court rocks the vintage, retro, classic and old faves from the Queen Kat Designs Store.

It's the start of summer and we thought we'd also let our beloved Queen Kat take it easy. She's been going through a lot, especially her dad, so it wouldn't hurt to lift her up in your thoughts and prayers. We'd sure appreciate it. We love you, Vicki!

Officially, you're only going to see ONE BLOG HOP per week on the QKD Blog starting this month, so you better not miss it!

We hope you enjoy the gorgeous work our Royal Court has in store for us. This week, we have this beautiful sketch as inspiration:

And here's the official blog hop list in case you get lost along the way:

For me, I was lucky enough to work with two amazing QKD stamp sets this month: the Holiday Sweater Set and Warm Fuzzies Stamp Set.

So while some of my Royal Court sisters are celebrating the 4th of July, I'll be celebrating Christmas in July! *wink*

I also pulled out the lovely Che Gilson's Peppermint Girl Stamp for this card and decided to play dress-up. I added the hat from the Holiday Sweater Set and stamped a snowflake on her paper bag.

Now, have fun and get hopping! See you at the lovely Lara's Blog!

Hope you have a fun and creative week and we'll see you next week! =)

Royal Kat Tuesday: 3-D Item

Welcome to another Royal Kat Tuesday! This week's challenge is to create any 3-D item.

And here's what I came up with:

Here is a close-up:

I used to make these paper fans in school when I was a kid. And I've been seeing them online being used as a round embellishment on scrapbook layouts. I originally intended to make pompoms. lol. But art cannot be tamed. And I ended up with a paper flower. Still good. *grin*

I used a combination of acrylic and rubber QKD Stamps: Cupcake Friends, Russian Dolls, Elegant Sayings.

Check out the fabulous creations of the Royal Kat Tuesday team with this week's challenge:

So.. It's almost 1 month to Summer CHA! It's a crazy crazy time of year for Queen Kat Designs and the Royal Court. I actually kind of gave the Royal Court a break from new stamps for July! WHAT? Have I totally lost it?

Nah, I've been working on new stamps myself. I've come up with a collection that I am very fond of and is my own private collection called Studio 77. It's a very eclectic selection of stamps ranging from rock n roll, distressed stamps to graffiti writing and your very own distressing stamps. I have a sneek peek here for you...

I hope you'll enjoy the hints I have to drop from now until release day which is July 7th!! Yep, that's correct! We are releasing our new July lines on July 7th and we are not making you wait until CHA! There's lots and lots to come this month so stay tuned with QKD!

Royal Kat Tuesday: Inspiration

Welcome to another Royal Kat Tuesday! This week's challenge is to derive Inspiration from the wonderful photo below:

And here's what I came up with:

Here are some close-ups:

So in case you were wondering what crazy food I tried out for the first time during my 32nd birthday, it was frog legs! Just goes to show you don't have to travel very far to inject a little bit of the exotic into your life. Just head over to a restaurant and try out something you haven't tried out before.

Since the restaurant we went to was a Chinese restaurant, I was of course going to use my Prosperity Crane Stamp Set! (Sadly, an oldie but classic stamp no longer available at the Store. Chin up, do check out the rest of the awesome stamps, especially the new releases this month, and make sure not to miss out on them in the future!)

Royal Kat Tuesday: Black and White

Welcome to another Royal Kat Tuesday! This week's challenge is COLOR: Using black and white.

Here's a close-up:

It was my grandmother's 98th birthday last month and I made this card for her using the lovely Beverly Stamp.

So it's not your classic, cheery birthday card. But I wanted the card to have a classy theme. Plus I wanted to thank my grandmother for being there for me through the good and the bad.

Royal Sketch Monday- release week #2

Hi and Welcome to Royal Kat Monday! This week, we had a sketch to work with:

And here is my take on it:
This stamp is just so different, isn't it? It really is a beautiful image. It is called the Peacock Lady. I decided to go with peacock colors on the image. I used some paper from Basic Grey on the card, and colored her in with Copics.

Thanks for stopping by! Now hop over to Dark Ink Society to see the next creation. It is week 2 of new releases, so don't miss any!

Royal Kat Monday

Hello, and welcome to Royal Kat Monday! This week, our challenge was to create anything but a card. I actually have 2 projects to show you because I made one and then I realized I was supposed to show off one of the new releases today. So I made another but I really love my first one so I will show you both.

The first thing I created was this:

It's a tooth fairy box! I made it for my son, as he is almost 7, so I reckon he'll be losing some teeth pretty soon. This box will make it super easy for the tooth fairy to find his teeth. I used an empty canister from Prima Flowers. The stamp I used was the Berry Fairy. I colored her body and hair with copics. Then I paper pieced her dress, and her wings are paper pieced from a piece of glimmer misted paper. Next, she needed a tooth for her wand. I used shrink plastic to make it so tiny. I drew a tooth on the shrink plastic, baked it in the oven for about 5 minutes, and when it was done, I mounted it on a Stickled toothpick. I added some patterned paper and stickers, and I used Stickles to make the glittery border.

The second project I made is this:

It is a recipe box. In the first photo, you can see it from the side. I actually made the entire box from cardstock using a template. Then I decorated the front with some October afternoon paper and ribbon. The stamps come from a new release set, "From my kitchen", which will be available in the store on Wednesday. The set includes the sentiment shown here as well as the utensil stamp, and also some cupcake stamps, a cookie jar, and some bowls and more utensils. Perfect for making a gift for someone.

Thanks for stopping by! Now hop over to Dark Ink Society  to see their latest creation. All of our designers are previewing new releases today, so don't forget to hop them all.

Royal Kat Tuesday: Inspiration

Welcome to another Royal Kat Tuesday! We have an awesome Inspiration challenge for you today.

I say it's awesome because it just so happens to be summer in the Philippines where I am. So I made this layout of a recent trip to the beach:

Yep, still as in love with the Alice Stamp Set in the March 2010 Findings Kit. (What?! You haven't gotten yours reserved yet? Check it out at the store! Hurry because when it's gone, it's gone.)

Also made a background of QKD's Vintage Time Background Stamp.

Now, as per SOP, here's a road map in case you get lost along the way on today's blog hop: *wink*

Royal Inspiration Monday

Welcome to the QKD Monday Blog Hop! This week, our designers had an inspiration piece to work with:

And here is my take on it:
I was inspired by the lovely pastel colors in the image. I used my favorite release this month- Mommy 2 Isn't she amazing? I colored her in with Copics, cut out with Nestabilities, sponged with chalk ink, and used a paper piercer. I used a punch to punch holes for the ribbon to go through and attached with a stapler.

Thanks for stopping by! Hop on over to Jule's place to see the next creation. Happy Monday!

Sin Bonnet Sue Stamp Release...

Hey there!! Thanks for joining us for a special stamp release. We are releasing 10 new stamp sets today! That's right TEN!! we have a new collection called Sin Bonnet Sue and boy is she funny!!! This is one of them... We call her Rawker Chick Sue.

This card was fun to make. I used a new bracket template that I borrowed from a friend along with the Rawker Chick stamp set, flowers, safety pins, stickles, eyelets and a brad.

It's a pretty straight forward card. I hand colored the flowers.. They started as white flowers from the $1 store. I used a foam applicator and applied Black Soot Distress Ink on the largest and smallest then I used Red Velvet CTMH ink on the red one. I added a silver jumbo brad then dotted it with my metallic gold adirondak paint daubber. The brad actually looks like it's been gold leafed.

So..... 10 new sets means 10 stops on our hop today! So lets get this party hoppin'. Off to Meredith's blog you go.

Royal Kat Tuesday: Color

Hi and welcome to another Royal Kat Tuesday! This week's challenge is color --monochromatic. The rule is to use any shades of any color plus neutrals.

Okay, so I kinda got carried away with my creation but here it is:

And here's a close-up:

I swear I was trying to be good and use monochromatic colors on the choice of cardstock colors. Plus the air mail postal sticker is blue. But I used a clothing tag from one of my son's new shirts. Sorry it's red! =p

Anyhoo, in lieu of coloring the keyhole, I stamped it with QKD's Aged Text Background Stamp then colored it a darker shade of brown with a marker.

Oh and that "You're a Star" stamp is an oldie but goodie, one of my fave QKD stamps. And it's also red, sorry!

And, yep, it was my son's idea to pose beside the High School Musical sweethearts. =p

Royal Kat Monday

Welcome to Royal Kat Monday!
This week, we have a color challenge, which is pretty wide open: use a monochromatic color scheme.

I had trouble with this challenge, but I managed to use only 2 colors, brown and pink for this card....

I used the new Dress #2 stamp. I colored in the image and used a square of patterned paper and rub on sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by! Now hop on over to Dark Ink Sorority to see what they have come up with.

You won't want to miss any of these great stops!

Royal Kat Tuesday: Sketch

Hi again! Hope you're having a fantastic week! We certainly are in QKD as the rubber stamps are just G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S. But don't just take my word for it. Check them out at the store and see for yourself!

This week's Royal Kat Challenge is another beautiful sketch.

And here's my take on it:

Have been having waaaay too much fun with the Alice Stamp Set from the March 2010 Findings Kit. (If you don't want to miss out, hurry and reserve the kits now! Once they're gone, they're gone! Check out the store here.)

And paper doilies. Yep, I've been crazy about paper doilies for a while now.
