Winter Birthday

Yea....I'm STILL stuck on making birthday cards....what can I say....I have lots of people in my life that have birthdays! HA!

This one has a nice 'winter' feel to it. I love using purple and pink together. I remember as a child my sister laughing every time I would put my pink coat on with my purple skirt...she always said I didn't match, but I knew better! (Sorry, I digress...love you Paula!)

I used the 'Happy Birthday' stamp from the Greetings 2 Set (which is on sale by the way), embossed it with silver and few little touches for a sweet card for one of my many winter birthdays!

Have a great day and go stamp something!

Make a layout any size your heart desires and scrap a birthday it can be anyone's birthday, here's the catch we are going to use a sketch, one of Queen Kat's CARD sketches!

Yep that's right, turn this great sketch into a page.

I decided to scrap my two year old son from his second birthday last year. In my sample I have a sneaky peek into the new release coming in February, check out that cool bubbly background! I also used the rocket from Over the Moon and a cupcake from Cupcake Friends sets.

Getting Ahead

Last night, I dug out a past Take 3 set that I had gotten but never had the chance to play with.  A friend of mine is in the process of buying a new house and so I thought that the little house allowed me the perfect opporotunity to be one step ahead on congratulating them on their new place.

I think in the next couple of days I am going to spend my free time making cards in advance so that I don't have to smack myself for remembering something 2 hours before I need it.  Head over to the store and get some stamps that you can use to make cards ahead of time. I know there is something over there that you can always use, maybe somegreetingsfun animals, or maybe something revolving around some sweets...  Anyways, head over to the store and see what you can find that you can't live without.

Never Enough....

Birthday cards!

Is it just me, or do you always seem to need birthday cards? I'm trying to pad my supply of them.

The other night the QK DT had a little crop of our own....(always fun to see what we come up with) and one of the challenges was a sketch challenge....and here is what I came up with!

I pulled out an older stamp set that I have of QK's....I LOVE this flower and thought, why not use it as a 'border' of sorts! I stamped them and cut them out....added a few goodies and there ya go! A birthday card for my stash...

I need soooo many more though?? How about you? How is your birthday card stash?

Have a great weekend!

Love the Asian Flair?

This is a card that I've created using the stamp set that I've designed for QKD's January 2009 Get Inked! Kit. Hope that it would inspire those of you who had bought that kit. For those of you who did not get a chance to own that kit, try your luck in my blog giveaway now where I'll be giving away this stamp set to one lucky winner.

In this card, I've used various distress inks to stamp the images and use a dark solvent ink to stamp the last image. This will give you the distance effect look on the images. Try this technique!

Be sure to check out February's Get Inked! Kit from QKD. I've designed the stamps and written some technique/projects sheets for it. I'll also be doing some further samples besides the projects that come with the kit hoping to further inspire. So, if you don't want to miss out on it, make sure you sign up on the wait list for February's GI Kit. You just need to send an email to
info@katstamps.com .

Time to Take 3

Every woman knows the importance of sitting back and enjoying the little things in life, we just might not get to do it all that often.  So with that in mind, your goal this week is to help remind that special lady in your life, whether she be your best friend, mom, or sister, to sit back and and take in the little things.  I've decided that my mom, who is entirely over worked, needs to sit back and enjoy, so I've made this card with the Take 3 kit to remind her.

Love is in the air...

Ok, so it might be a little early to start celebrating Valentine's Day, but if you are like me (#1 procrastinator in the world) you always need a kick to start early! Here is an adorable tag I put together last night! I am planning on using it on the gift I get for my hubby!

First, I made the tag out of some white cardstock. Then, I smushed some Worn Lipstick distress ink onto wax paper, spritz it with a little water, and brayered it on the tag. I used the same color to ink the edges of the tag as well. Next, I grabbed a grunge heart, painted it red, and added some fruit punch stickles. The stamp is from the QKD set "Holiday Words", which I stamped onto white cardstock and colored in with Tombo markers. Grab some buttons and ribbon, and put it all together. Hope this inspires you to make something fun and fast for the holiday approaching!!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

This card was made using Build a Sweet Stamp Set! I love this set, and have made a ton of cards for my daughters friends for their birthdays with this set:) This set is sooo soooo darling, and all of my daughters friends love these cards that I have made with this set!!
I stamped the brown on brown, and then used clear embossing powder, and heated it. I then stamped choc chip craft on white, and added dots and then dazzling diamonds to that. Next the heart was colored in pretty in pink. The flowers have diamond gems in the centers, and the Y is a chipboard piece and it came this way. I did write the yummy under it. I then tied ribbon around the top and made a big bow. Also use dp for the background. Hope you like :)

Time to Take 3

New thing, Time to Take 3. Every week for four weeks, I will show you samples that I have made using the Take 3 stamp kit for the current month. The Take 3 kits can be found here fromQueen Kat Designs.
A couple things to keep in mind:
1. These Stamps are AWESOME!
3. The Stamps that are released with the kit are exclusive to the kit, however they may or may not be released at a later date.
5. There are always three sets (hence the name Take 3) of stamps included each month
and last but not least....

This month, the stamps that are offered in the Take 3 revolve around indulgence of the greatest kind, a day at the spa. Here's a looky at the stamps in this months kit:

So now, on to the project....
This week I decided to make a tag invitation to a little girls night gathering, and what a better way to show that its going to entirely be about the pampering of yourself than to show a tub full of bubbles?  Well, have a look for yourself...

New Kits @ QKD!

We have been busy coming up with a new kind of kit for you! These are to die for kits!! They have enough material to make at least 1 of the featured item (more if it's a small item), the step by step how to instructions, and the stamps used to make the project!! How fun is that??

Want more?? Ok! You got it! We have set up a private message board just for instructions with pictures and interaction with the person who created the kit. What does that mean, you ask? It means that when you purchase one of the special project kits, you will be emailed a link to the message board where you can sign up and sign in and receive personal help from the project's creator! I think that's so fun! It's like taking a class in your own home. And you have the instructions and stamps to use over and over again once you've completed your project! We have an entire year planned with these kits.

At this time there are no subscriptions. There will be 1-2 new ones released every month. This month we have 1 to start with it's a "Sweetheart Frame". You'll be altering a ready made frame and adding all sorts of sparkle to it! check out what I did with mine..
I made my frame as per the directions and added some black and white photos of the people I love most. On the bottom, we have my little sister Marci about 3 years ago, then there's my little nephew Tyler this Christmas and my QT -Pie lil sis Alysha about 3 years ago. On the top we have my dear ol' dad, me and my grannie when I was oh.. maybe 3 or 4? This frame is so great and I know once you make one you'll treasure it always.
These make such great gifts too. I think I'm going to go get more frames and make a couple for Valentine's Day gifts! Want to make one as a gift? Come on over to the store beginning tomorrow and grab your kit! They are here and ready to ship!!

What's in the kit? Well I'll tell you...
1 Frame (with glass and all)
1 mini jar of QKD Red Shimmer Paint
1 mini jar of Iridescent Medium
1 Foam paint brush
1 Brad
1 Large Beautiful Flower
Instruction Sheet
1 mini Stamp Set
2 Rectangles of Cardstock

Here's the fun Mini stamp set you'll get.

What's the price of the kit? You'll have to come to the store tomorrow to find out! It's a great price for what you get.
