That's it for now!

Till later...

Is it Christmas yet!?

I feel like Christmas should be closer than it is because I've just been having so much fun with this Fancy Christmas Stamp Set! It's now officially Fall, so I guess that makes it okay to work ahead to Xmas! I love that this year there are more and more projects & supplies with non-traditional Xmas colors. I decided to use simply black & white for a simple holiday gift bag.

I added some sparkly fluff under the tree here. I'd love to see what you've done for Xmas without using red or green!

Sweets for the Sweet

Happy Tuesday everyone. I am having such fun playing with the Queen Kat Designs Build a Sweet stamp set and my sentiment is from the Mini Sweets stamp set. The background paper just said mint chocolate chip to me. I might have to go out and get a real ice cream cone to eat. Ha ha. Have a great week and I will see you next Tuesday.

Boo bag tag

Have you ever booed someone? Basically, here is what you do: make up 3 treat bags, and then you drop them off at your friends' houses. You ring the doorbell and run. Then, the people you boo need to do the same thing.

It's a very fun tradition. My son especially likes to ring and run. You can buy bags with tags on them already. I decided to alter one of mine. I am also going to make 9 more to put in the treat bags so my son's friends parents don't have to make them.

I was at Target the other day, and all their premade "boo" stuff has monsters on it, so I chose Joe the Monster.

Here's what the back looks like- cute little poem. I've included it so you can copy if you like.

Have a great day!

A Fun Farewell From KellyJean

I thought it would be appropriate to make my
last post here at QKD one with a "thank you" note.
Designing for Vicki here at Queen Kat
has been quite a fun trip and I am appreciative.
*
I love this little note of thanks because it's so "me."
Clean (good thing, right?!)
Extremely cute (well, the Build a Teddy set is anyways, LOL.)
Short (literally, I'm 5') and sweet.
Thanks, Vicki, for the fun.  I wish you all the best!

Sundays are for Stampin' - September 27th

Hello there, and welcome to another edition of Sundays are for Stampin' - and the final Sunday in September!! Wow, nearly October!

You've probably been able to tell already that I love Halloween, but in case you forgot =), here's another project I'd like to share with you:

This card is the result of a challenge to use die cuts and punches, but Nesties don't count. You'll see here that I've used a couple Martha Stewart punches - I loved this excuse to use the cool runny gooey border punch! If you visit Tina's blog often, like I do, then you'll probably recognize the sketch behind my card, take a look here!

Once again I turned to the wonderful two-step tree to make this creation, though this time I focused less on the tree aspect and more on the swirly curly branches!

So the heat-embossed swirly-ness was actually a happy accident. For some very odd reason I heat-embossed the stamping with BLACK embossing powder instead of white. Turns out, it's perfect as a silhouette behind the bridal embossing!

Thought I'd share with you one of the playful things I added to this card:

In the embossed cat's face I just thought it'd be fun to add some whimsical brads for the cat's eyes!! I'm glad you dropped by to check out the blog and see another Halloween creation! New Release Wednesday is almost here!!! Just a little over a week, I can't wait!!!

And before you go, please scroll down to see Linda's flower monkey - so very cute!

Thanks for reading and have a very blessed Sunday!!

Monkey business on Sunday

Hi!

Having a great sunday?
I got a darling Flower Monkey and could not wait to use it, he is so funny. This season is beautiful because of the colors, I thought it would fit perfect with the monkey.
To make this card I colored the monkey with aquapencils and used last weeks' sketch as a lead for the layout, added a few flowers, then I stamped the sentiment on a tag, card finished ;)

xx Linda

Stamping Saturday!

Wow!!! It is Saturday! Hoping everyone is having a great day, just wanted to share a card with you:

I used the Mini Sweets Stamp Set These cute little stamps are perfect for a birthday card or a thinking about you card. Can't you just see them on a tag?

Hope you have a wonderful stamping Saturday! See you next week!

Penny

Stampin' Saturday

This is my last official post with the two September release sets I was given to work with. (I can't believe October is a few days away!) These sets are so versatile that I'm sure I'll be using them again, unofficially, on more autumn projects. I woke up to sunshine, then storms, and now, finally, sunshine again so that I can take the photo. Here are extensive details and tips: I started with a manila tag and a craft sheet. I swiped onto the craft sheet several colors of Tim Holtz for Ranger Distress Inks. You can see how I swiped them separately as if making a rainbow. Then I used a water mister to get the colors wet and blending together. I placed the tag on top of the wet ink and pressed down to blot and have the tag absorb the color. After the tag dried, I sprayed it with gold Adirondak Perfect Pearls mixed with water. Then after it dried again, I offset the tree from the QKD Apple Days set and stamped it onto the tag with black tuxedo Memento ink. I like the idea of the ink showing through the stamp, but I wanted the apples to "pop" so I first colored them with my gold glitter gel pen (which is a dark color) and then topped them with Scattered Straw Distress Stickles. I edged the tag with Adirondak Metallic Gold Acrylic Paint Dabber. (This is sooo much easier to use than a gold leaf pen.) I got out my QKD Give Thanks stamp set and used three of the stamps. I stamped the bird on the tag so that it looks like it's perched on the sentiment banner. Using another manila tag, I stamped the background banner with Antique Linen Ranger Distress Ink. I over stamped the Happy Thanksgiving sentiment in black. (Make sure your background ink is dry before overstamping to avoid bleeding.) Please note that this QKD stamp is solid and looks like torn paper. That's why I used the light ink for the background. After cutting it out, I distressed the banner with a shade darker Tea Dye Ranger Distress Ink. To add to the torn look, I further distressed the banner with my scissors. Instead of eyelets or brads, I used Tim Holtz Idea-ology Snaps along with some twine. (I placed two long, narrow strips of foam adhesive on the back of the banner in RR track fashion and laid the twine in-between them. That helped to balance everything so that the sentiment banner would lay flat on the tag.) Another pointer: color the top of your white foam adhesive so that it blends better with your project. Since the back of the tag has blotches of ink from my hands when I was sprtizing and working with the ink on the craft sheet, I matted it with black cardstock for a more finished look. Fibers, ribbons and leaves (with some Ranger Peeled Paint Distress Crackle Paint, Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and Lettuce Acrylic Paint Dabber--I was going for a crackled autumn leaf look) complete the tag. Think about making a tag like this to attach to a hostess gift for the holidays.

Geisha bookmarkers

Here's a fun and easy project to do. Stamped bookmarkers!

I made these bookmarkers with Queen Kat Designs Geisha Girls # 1 Stamp Set.
But you can see how easy it is to make with all the gorgeous stamps in the QKD Store. Think mermaids, a dragon, fairies or maybe even a snowman.

This would also actually make a wonderful gift inside a handmade card.

Hope you have a great ink-filled day!
*hugs*

Got Seals?

Happy Thursday! How about a card using some happy fall colors? I love fall, it's seriously my favorite season and I LOVE making cards using "fall" colors!

For this one I used the Seals set which comes with some super versatile seal stamps as well as a few sentiments that you will find yourself being using again and again!

Enjoy!

It Started With a Cupcake

Mini Sweets is a truly wonderful stamp set, one of the first I owned from Queen Kat Designs and used so very much. My favorite image from the set is this cute little cupcake.

I paired the image with some of my favorite papers and die cuts, loving the pinks these days. And, I am really enjoying the layering of punches and dies not necessarily designed to go together.

I gave this to my mother for her birthday on the 16th; she really needed the perk because she jumped out of the back of my dad's truck and injured her leg. Yep, I said jumped! She should not be jumping at all, let alone out of the back of a truck. I almost had to ground her! LOL She's on the mend now, so hopefully just a little longer before she's herself again.
Hope your Thursday is a very happy one!

Holiday Altered Box Some Assembly Required

I just love this Build a Snowman set. It is so much fun and you can tailor it any way you want. I have been making and selling these Mason jars filled with cookie, brownie and soup mixes for a fund raiser for our Girl Scout troop. When I saw this stamp set it made me think about how the snowman requires some assembly and so does the holiday chocolate chip cookie mix. Doesn't it look like it would be yummy. I will have to see who will receive this fun treat from me. These 6 X 6 Basic Grey pads just work so well for smaller altered projects.

Have a great day and see you next week.

Magestic Monday

How 'bout them apples?!
"Apple Basket" is a new image, released this month,
from Queen Kat Designs.
I really like this image because the basket is so well designed.
Coloring it was so easy and it looks so realistic now.
today to pick up your "Apple Basket!"
*
If you visited my blog last Wednesday or
participated in our amazing QKD blog hop,
this card probably looks familiar.
As promised on my blog,
brought to you today is a bit more fun
to tag along with my fun fall card.
*
AN ENVIE!
(That's "envelope" for those not familiar with craft text. he he.)
Of course, I stamped the front with only the TOP
of my "Apple Basket" image.
Then I used my patterned paper to dress up the back.
If you have any questions on how I did this,
please feel free to contact me.
*
Happy apples today!

Another new Stamping Maid here!

Hi all! My name is Nancy, and this is my first QKD blog post!
I'm very excited to be part of the QKD team.
This week I played with the Over the Moon stamp set. I really love this set. I colored this robot in with copic markers and I used scraps from my scrap collection to make the card. The sentiment is a rub on. I finished with a little Stickles on the heart.

First post from a new Stamping Maid

Hi peeps!

I am one of the new Royal Stamping Maids and very proud of it!
I'll introduce myself.
I am Linda Post, from the Netherlands, so bare with me ;o) I am 42 years old, have a husband and a 21 year old son.
I've always been a crafty person, I learned how to crochet and knit from my grandmother, from that time, I've tried many! things.
That's me for now, the pictures of Queen Kat design cards will come, but it has to be October first :)

At this time I have a few QK images, but they cannot be shown yet. I can tell you the new stamps are again lovely and various useable.

Sundays are for Stampin' - September 20th

Hello there, and welcome to another edition of Sundays are for Stampin'!! Wow was our Saturday ever full with family time!! By some miracle we were all up and awake at 7:30am, so we spent the whole day together, the latter part out running errands. Wow is it ever a blessing to strike up conversations with our kids! Talking to the kids and having hubby snuggly time - now those are heavenly!!

If you followed along the Royal Wednesday blog hop on 9/16, hopefully you hopped all the way through to catch the informative blog posts and inspirational projects! And if you happen to somehow recall the Alien Royal Wednesday boo boo, my eyes completely skipped over the 9/16 color challenge that Maria posted for us in our forum...I managed to leap forward in time and create this week's Royal Wednesday project, thinking I was ahead of the game and everything.

Here's the card I would have posted if I'd read our challenges more carefully:

The two-step tree stamp set?? They really are just some of the best stamps I have...truly love their look and versatility! And of course the Take a Journey greetings!

The 'Wherever you go,..." sentiment is absolutely one of my favorites!

I wish for you a wonderful family Sunday! May everyone in your family feel a pull to ink up a stamp of yours and make YOU cards! Hoooooooo-rah!

Paper: yummy-licious BasicGrey Perhaps; Bazzill Bling
Ink: Cat's Eye - cranberry chalk, chestnut roan chalk, white pigment
Accessories: Nestabilities Labels Seven; Primas (and a flower from our Mom's stash); ribbon; Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder; BoBunny Bodacious brad; Marvy photo corner punch; Kaiser half pearls; Making Memories rub-ons

Thanks for reading and have a very blessed Sunday!!

Stamping Saturday II

Wow!!! what a great day on the soccer field!!! We were off early to go and play and I didn't have time to post this morning (need to remember to autopost!)

So, here is the project I wanted to share with you today:

This is one of my favorite layouts that I have done recently. I used the Elegant Swirls Stamp Set. I used three of the four stamps and layered them.

Hope you have a great day!
Penny

Stampin' Saturday

I was able to use a challenge sketch to make this card. I'm featuring the Apple Days stamp which is a new release this month here in the QKD store. Yesterday, Victoria posted a beautiful Apple Tree at Sunset card. She copper embossed her tree. I chose to use black ink with my tree, but make everything else golden. This stamp has so many possibilities! Here's how I made my card: I didn't have an oval cutter large enough to provide the background for the stamp so I used my craft knife (a tool I haven't quite mastered) and an oval template. I swiped, across my craft mat, five different colors of Ranger Distress Ink, used my water mister to blend, and then dragged the oval though the ink. Once the oval dried, I misted it with gold Perfect Pearls. I used black tuxedo Memento ink to stamp the apple tree image. Then I got out my Adirondack Metallic gold Dabber acrylic paint and edged the oval as well as painted some copper German scrap. I finished by layering everything together with fiber, flowers, leaves, and ribbon. I took the photo out in the sun, hoping you can see all of the shimmer. Hope you have time today to scrap a lot! Apple Tree at Sunset

This is one of my favorite cards right now. I just love how it turned out. I layered sponged colors all over the Very Vanilla paper using a torn piece of cardstock to add texture and to differentiate the ground from the skyline. I then stamped the image in Versamark and embossed in copper. The sentiment is stamped in Soft Suede which I used to layer the image panel with as well. Lastly I put copper brads in each corner and adhered it to an Apricot Appeal base.

Cardstock: Apricot Appeal, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
Stamp Set: Apple Days
Ink: Versamark, Soft Suede
Extras: Sponges, copper brad, copper EP

I Heart Purple

Ok, so Sweater Set is quickly becoming a favorite. Here it is in purple hues, lovely.

I added a little hint of winter as well by embossing the shimmer paper. Isn't it fun?!! The cooler weather will be here before you know it, and it's been nice to make some non-traditional Christmas cards using this non-traditional set. More for the winter season than Christmas really, but it works.

Hope you have a fantastic Thursday!

Tina

Friendly Swirls!

How's your Thursday going? Pretty good over here, have some super cute stamps from QKD to play with and I pulled out one of my FAVORITE creations!

I really like that I was able to use elements of 3 different sets to make this card. We have The Funky Swirls, Seals set and the flowers from Friends set. The swirls and the colors make me happy, I hope you enjoy as well!!

Inspire Me layout

As moms we always tend to be the ones taking the pictures and the ones we most likely forget to scrap about.

A simple "All About Me" exercise, even if you don't like having your photo taken, is to document the things that you love.

I have loved the window displays at the mall, especially this children's/mommy's clothing store in the Philippines. I've had this photo for a while before I decided that I should finally scrap it since I want to remember the things that inspire me.

I used two of my favorite Queen Kat Designs Stamps on this: the Library Card Stamp and the Chandelier Stamp.

Quick tip: This is also an easy way to use up all those tiny scraps of your favorite patterned paper that you can't bear to throw away. Just layer and layer and layer.

Hope you have a great ink-filled day!

*hugs*

Birds With Style

Today I wanted to use the new Birds With Style set again with a very simple color combo. The penguin works perfectly for this with just white & black. I used a sketch from Friday Sketchers which worked perfectly for this with the help of lots of Spellbinders dies!

I used the Spellbinders Octagons, Scalloped Octagons, Circles, Scalloped circles and a tag from the new Ribbon Tag 2 set. For the tag, I cut and than embossed the tag and than went over it with black ink on a sponge tip.

I put two penguins together for the Lets Fly Together phrase (which I also find a little funny, because, of course, penguins can't fly!). So, it's sweet and a little ironic at the same time :)

See you for the blog hop tomarrow!

Fun Box in a Bag

I had two birthday's including my son who turned 18 today. While I know that I am not old enough to have an 18 year old son, the truth is that I do. We are giving him money and I wanted something fun and different to put our check in. I surfed on over to Splitcoast Stampers because I recalled seeing a box type bag that would be perfect. The tutorial is by Diana Gibbs and is so very easy to follow. It took about 15 minutes to make each box and then jazz them up with some fun Queen Kat Design Stamps. I used the Build a Sweet stamp set for Sean's blue box and the Cup Cake Friends set for Kristen's box. Both stamp sets are on one of my favorite pages on the Queen Kat Designs store site, which is of course the food category of stamps.
Happy stamping and have a great day everyone. See you next week.

Magestic Monday

Hey, thanks for gracing us with your royal presence
on this very Magestic Monday!
Here at Queen Kat Designs, I believe the customers
are just as "royal" (if not more) than the DT members!
(Let's face it, if you weren't a part of what we do...
we'd have nothing to do! Right?!)
So again, thanks for visiting!
*
As promised this past Wednesday during the
Royal Blog Hop on my blog
I bring you a bit of a fun addition to my card...
A BEAUTIFUL AND FUN ENVELOPE!
*
Check it out!
All I did was use the same stamp set "2 Step Tree"
by Queen Kat Designs
for my envie that I did for my card!
I color spritz a bit of color onto the back portion
and how about that cute little owl on the front!
Easy!
*
What are you thankful for today?
Me, I am thankful for YOU (and Queen Kat, of course!)
Have a very magestic Monday!
